  • On July 29, 2019, a thunderstorm moved into the Rio Rico, Arizona area. At its peak, it dropped what some call a rain bomb, known better as a wet microburst. I captured this microburst while shooting a series of images that I compiled into a timelapse video.

I drove through a microburst outside of Phoenix once. It was like driving through a hurricane. It went from 112 to 67 degrees in a matter of minutes.

That was incredible, magnificent footage! It could explain what I just experienced on Christmas Eve at night. NO rain but suddenly what looked like a tidal wave descending down on us at an angle, full force. Idk how we did not hydroplane, as the "wave/dump" was followed by, or was the beginning of, hard rain that gradually let up. ... Do you happen to know or hear how drivers fared in this? Not to be a wimp, but I feel a little shaken about this and have been thinking about it often for the past week. Thanks!

Am I the only one who saw the bird disappear? In the 25% part.

Interesting. I only now noticed the bird. Because these images were captured using a longer shutter speed, that's why the bird seems to disappear. It likely continued flying further away from the camera which made it unnoticeable. It looks like the bird was still far away from the downburst. Good catch!

technically isnt it still fast motion because time lapse. Lmao sorry I couldn't help myself.

    “In slow motion”
Proceeds to show it in a time lapse 🤦🏻‍♂️

Well isn't a timelapse the ultimate slow motion? Playing timelapse images at 30fps and slowing it down is in fact...slowing it down. Thank you for the Ted talk.
