    One of the crucial factor is i think the best delivery service. You can easily get food from 쿠팡, 마켓컬리, 배달의 민족. You can actually get the food you want in an hour, which means you do not need to buy a lot of food at once. You can just easily order whenever you need to. I strongly believe that 빨리빨리 culture in Korea is working well in this whole situation.

    The situation in the US is very frustrating. I bought enough food and home supplies to last me for at least 3-4 weeks and I hope that the panic buying situation will be better by then. But panic buying aside, the whole attitude towards this situation is terrible. I am a college student who lives in a college town with 2 roommates and one of them has the same attitude as that person you mentioned in the video. Talking about how it’s just the flu, how she’s not gonna let a virus stop her from living her life as normal, and how “the people who die from this were already going to die anyway”. I never got along with this roommate that well before but especially now, I can’t stand how selfish her and other people who refuse to take this seriously and socially distance themselves are acting. It’s fine to go out every once in awhile and get some fresh air or go get things you need, but seeing people still go out to crowded spaces and social gatherings is infuriating.

    Hi! I just moved back to Korea. I was a student the first time I came here, and now I’m supposed to be teaching middle school. I moved to Daegu right in the middle of the cases exploding. I was quarantined until the 9th, and many of us are isolating. Despite all of that, life is still happening. When I do need to go out for supplies, there’s food. I can get what I need. There’s not an overwhelming sense of panic. Isolation isn’t the easiest thing to deal with, but we are all managing.
    I am so glad that I chose to stay in Korea. Looking at what’s happening back in the states is just... awful(?). It’s just a whole mess. :/

    • @sarahsseoulsearch
      @sarahsseoulsearch  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah. I was torn up about what go do but now I feel 100% confident that I made the right choice. Medically and culturally I think Korea is best equipped to handle this sort of situation.

      SarahsSeoulSearch 맥사라 孟欣怡 Agreed!
      Even with everything that’s going on, so many people helped me move into my new apartment and get settled. People are still looking out for each other, and I feel an underlying sense of togetherness. Of course there’s worry and fear, but it just feels more contained and manageable. We will get through this together.

    It's getting on my nerves as well because here in the usa they've basically closed work for me now I have to figure out what the hell to do but I understand it's a safety thing but its fucked up for a lot.of us that are sick or whatever now I have to find a work from home job or something. Right exactly we may not get paid because of this shit so idk how to feel over here in the us

    Yup. It’s nuts here. Toilet paper is very hard to buy here. Not sure why, though. Lol. Disney world is closed, colleges telling students to leave, finish the semester online, towns closing school for weeks. Even my work is being cautious. No domestic air travel at all-which is all my team and I do! You’re smart to stay put. Just be safe. And if things get really bad, know we are here to help you get hone if you want to! Stay safe! 💜

    I don't think Americans or other people in other countries are different from Koreans. Difference is whether you are well informed of what you are supposed to do when you are in uncertainty. "Fortunately" Koreans are well informed from the government of what we are supposed to do in this awful uncertain and unpredictable situation. Uncertainty and unpredictability are the main causes of panic. In Korea, even without symptoms, if you feel like you are infected with covid19 for some reasons, you can easily get tested for free. When you are sure that you will be able to get medical support to get it cured completely, you can somehow stay calm and less panicky. Koreans also freaked out when they found they couldn't get or buy masks.

  • @jinroh01
    @jinroh01 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Regarding panic buying, Korean authority has done well 'overreacting' on COVID. Warning posters were all over the subway stations, buses, and other public places since January, well before the outbreak in Daegu. So people weren't exactly blindsided like other countries.
    Also, average Koreans over 40 experienced panic buying situations from NK war threats. At the end, nothing happened and learned the lesson that you'll end up eating too much ramen for awhile.

    Your being stressed is valid. It’s totally weird now! It’s slightly comforting that the whole planet it in this. I’m in California, and I work for the state, so we’re now working 7 days per week. I can’t do that. I need to make sure I stay rested, and not so stressed. You’ll figure it out.

    You’re lucky your in Korea. America is a mess. We still do not have any test kits! Social distancing is our only defense and its failing miserably. Now everyone is panic buying everything. USA is months behind Korea in terms of having this under control.

    Yes You should be proud of South Korea! They never lost there mind or fought over toilet 🚽 paper. The media is pushing panic and doing a great job! Instead of stepping back and being level head it’s crazy. Also states and city are trying to take away are rights! You made the right choose staying there. Good luck!

  • @cathleenbaker4795
    @cathleenbaker4795 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Staying there was definitely the best decision as South Korea has become a model to the rest of the world on how to deal with this virus. The US administration was too concerned about keeping official numbers down to act appropriately and take swift action. Things are only getting worse here in the US and people are acting crazy because they can't trust that our government has a handle on the situation at all. Best of luck with your graduate program and once you get in your groove, I'm sure you'll do great! The beginning of the semester is always tough trying to figure out expectations and a new workload.

    And what that girl said is sickening . People’s true colors do come out. If it was her daughter/son or family members who died, she might have a change of heart. And some people see humans as just cells with no soul , so the elderly and the sick dying benefits their economy and saves money in their eyes.

    Your mom's right! I commented on your "decision" video saying that in a couple months, I might wish I was in Korea (as opposed to in the US). Well, I was wrong because it only took about 10 days for that to happen. The reported numbers of confirmed cases from various countries (US, Japan, for example) should be taken with a massive grain of salt; the salt being the different levels of testing being done. Either way, It really is a serious situation forcing people all over the world to deal with some major issues with finance and health. Sharing thoughts and ideas helps with keeping up the spirit (except for the sick ones such as the "cleansing" comment you unfortunately had to hear). So thank you for your videos. Take good care of yourself!
