I went to their website to see if they had listed their Hobo 5 year a day early and when I searched for it, this Midori embroidered 5 year popped up showing one available. I didn't even know Midori had a 5 year! As soon as I realized it was undated I threw it in my cart and paid fast! Then I came to TH-cam to find a review and here you are! Thank you for the great review! I feel like it was meant to be for me to have this one!😊💜
Sarah Martinez I think that’s why I really like the Midori over the hobonichi 5 years. It won’t be a waste of money if I end up not using it write away. But I just looked on jet pens and this book is $55. They have a cheaper one that has the plain cover, but this one is so much prettier.
I am trying to decide on a five year journal for my husband to give me for Christmas. I love the minimalist look of the Midori. That cover is so lovely. I wish the Hobonichi one came without the quotes. I also don’t understand the index page at the beginning of each month. It seems a bit odd for a 5 year journal.
Do you happen to know where we can find a cover for the 5 year? Only the embroidered ones come with the plastic cover and I'm afraid I'm going to wreck mine. I haven't been able to find anything online matching the midori's dimensions.
Hi. This is a years-late question, but still applicable to the Midori diary. Sounds silly, but what do u put in the parentheses? That is, the paren that appears next to the year section printed on each day's section. Is the parenthesis for the day of the wk, such as Mon., Tue., etc.
The parentheses is to fill in the last 2 digits of the year. There’s quite a space between the first digits and the parentheses so I would use it like you said and put the day of the week in there instead😊

Althought its really pretty, I am not sure if I would like it not showing the day, for me its important to see what day a certain date is, weekends included.
It looks very different from the cream color. I don’t know if it picked up well on camera, but next to the cream paper it looks almost like a super light tan color. It’s absolutely lovely!

Maybe I'd better practice with cheaper note books to get a writing routine going. I lose interest way too quickly. It's so beautiful tho I love handmade stuff...I just want to buy it coz...
The only way I can keep up with daily writing is to keep it SIMPLE. As you can see, I don’t decorate at all. I just write one sentence and that makes it fast. You can try keeping it by your bed and quickly write something when you get into bed. It’ll make it part of your routine😊

Exactly! And I wasn’t interested in the Midori 5 year until they released the embroidered cover😆. Beauty gets me every time, haha.

I’m not too familiar with MD paper but maybe they made that specific colour for the paper to compliment the colour of the cover 🤔

Yeah I noticed the Hobonichi 5 year doesn’t have the days of the week either...that would be a good addition to have!

It can lay flat! The beige cover isn’t attached at the spine so it gets out of the way if you want to bend the spine back to break it in.
