    You're the doud, Navid! I listened to your new release and it was exquisitely charming and therapeutic. The oud is certainly not for the impatient. Stringing is now second nature and fun for me. My main struggle has been filing a proper bone nut. It is tricky because I always use two low C's instead of one but finally got it right for my fingers.

      Don't two low c strings jangle?

      @@OudforGuitarists It took some trial and error, but It's all about the spacing on the nut. It needs to be wider than the other courses. Works well for me and gives a robust low C.

      It is not uncommon to find double low course ouds, in Syria, Iraq, etc.

      @@shepberryhill4912 yeah, from what I've observed, the nut and bridge spacing is critical to pulling it off without complications.

    Does anyone know of someone with an educational setup like Oudforguitarists, but for Greek Bouzouki?
    Keep going Navid! Your music is fantastic and your lessons are top-notch. I joined Classical Guitar Corner for a little bit(it didn't work out) and was impressed by the quality of their lessons, resources, etc. They became the standard I judge other sites by, which is a high bar. Yours is right up there with theirs. You do great work! Always impressed.

    What causes buzzing noise when I press on the fingerboard while I play?

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are so many factors that cause buzzing.
      strings could need changing
      the strings are too new
      the height of the strings is too low and needs to be adjusted
      the fingerboard is not precisely flat
      some part of the oud is loose inside or the rosette is loose
      the strings are too low tension and hitting each other too much
      I have to see it and play the oud to even determine anything.

    Does the oud require tuning each time?

  • @AnnaAnanasova
    @AnnaAnanasova 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My first oud was really heavy. So I was very shocked when I tried another one, which was super light. :) Also is it better to have strings closer to the neck? My first oud has it quite far away I would say, and when I tried another oud, which had strings very close to the sound board, it was strange for me.

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is some variety for how close the strings are to the neck. We call this distance "action". There is such a thing as too close to the neck, but usually people want between 1-3 mm. That is ideal. If it is 1 mm or less you might get a very buzzy sound. If it is 3mm or higher than the Oud might be difficult to play.

    I’m trying to get into oud but the cheapest I can find normally is like 400$ but I got on Etsy and find for 200$. Would they be genuine or is there like a certain range that they tend to be?

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, they tend to go for $200 to $450. But $200 is usually not very good. I would recommend paying at least $400, but sometimes you are lucky and can find something good for a student for $350.
