After Peru, David Popovici went on a well-deserved vacation ! 😎

So great to hear these two legends chatting. So much technical knowledge. It's going to be David and Kyle coming over the top of Caeleb with 25 to go. Go Kyle!

Keep dreaming. Caeleb has the 50 free (and 50 fly) and 100 fly in the bag. David has the 200 free in the bag. Kyle has nothing in the bag. All three guys will fight it out in the 100 free -- with Kyle most likely to be third.

Great, Brett, I love Michael Klim, great spirit. Thought: I haven't heard anyone as yet mention Popovic's creation of torgue, and the contribution of his head movement. I swam a couple years ago with a Romanian swimmer, who held national records several years ago and who suggested that I kind of snap my head back after the breath and use that to add momentum to driving forward (along with other parts, of course). Seems that Popovic almost contorts himself a bit to dig in and propel his body as far forward as possible. I guess he is faster "loping" versus being more symmetrical. Maybe that has to do with differing flexibilties in his shoulders. But do you have any thoughts on this head movement as a Romanian "thing"/emphasis? Thanks for the interview with Michael.

Kyle's PB is 47.08, yet Klim disses Caeleb whose PB is 46.96 (and has the OR at 47.02).

Dressel.pounded Klim's old WR time.. Think pop is future of 100 and 200. Dressel future of 100 fly. Think rested well.he can break 49.0..

I'm telling ya, Flynn Southam is going to be Popovici's biggest threat come Paris

The way media and people are talking, it seems like David is really out of reach for Dressel and other swimmers. While that is true, I think people sometimes forget the big picture. David is very much likely to push the barriers of sprint/mid distance freestyle swimming, but he will probably never win 7 golds or 8 medals in a single world championships. People don't give enough credit to Dressel.

Only because swimmers like Dressel can win 4-5 medals from relays alone by being part of a strong team.

Paris Final. If we have Dressel in Lane 3, Popovici in Lane 4 and Chalmers in Lane 5. I predict Dressel or Chalmers wins. Popovici won't be able to fight through the waves of both. Obviously Chalmers in 3, Dressel in 5, same result.
Any other lane scenario and Popovici wins.

I bet they will try to position Dave like that :).
Dave is a time bomb. I would not take that kind of bet except with money I'm willing to lose.

@EngineeringFun - Positions will obviously be determined in the Semi Finals. To prevent such a positioning David would merely need to let one of them out touch him in the Semi.
Getting sandwiched between those two, both excellent off the wall, having to fight through both their waves that last 35 meters...
That is the one scenario in which David could lose in Paris.

As i know David popov. and his ambition....he will win.

    • @johnmiranda3641
      @johnmiranda3641 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@Angelyna Georgy Schranzer - I am not saying he won't be favored, I only stated a scenario in which he might lose that race.
Remember too that David will focus everything on the 200 as well, not the 50.
So as I stated, that first 50 will not belong to him.
Going to be without question the most anticipated 100 free Finals ever. Absolutely the most anticipated since Sydney Olympics.

I don't think David's WR swim would've happened if Caeleb and Kyle had been in the pool churning waves.

He had Miressi next in to him in Rome, who is even bigger than Dressel or Chalmers.
