Hi Gareth, another nice tuto, thanks ! The way you explain, fast and clear, is incredible and very helpful. I just gave a try to Stacker, as I would like to send to my potential clients a selection of my records (I’m in real estate). Think of it as a listing specific to this client/prospect. The most convenient could be to share a view made for each client -that I’ve already set in AirTable. For each new client, I make a copy and adjust the selection criteria (here the name of the client in a field). But Stacker aparently needs to import the whole table, from which I will then have to select both the relevant fields *and* records, which is an huge loss of time considering it’s already automatically done in my view. The main issue being, as I understand, that each record (a building lot) will be assigned / connected to several clients/prospects. Therefore, I can’t have a « client » field containing a unique email. Did I miss sommething ? Do you see a workaround ? Thanks.
Hi Renaud, thanks for the comment. In fact, I think that Stacker will SAVE you time in the long run, as there is no need for you to create each of these client fields. This is especially important for growing businesses that don't want to have a manual step of creating a new view in Airtable every time they onboard a client - talk about a manual/tedious task! So yes, in your example I think this would still work just great! You mention that you have a record (building lot) that is connected to several clients/prospects. That's totally okay! Table #1 for you is Building Lots and Table #2 is Contacts. You then build a connection between these two, and Stacker is smart enough to create a portal that: 1. let's your prospects log in 2. only see the building lots that they are connected to in your base 3. make changes only to the data you want to give them permission to change So, while your client field doesn't contain a unique email, that's not a roadblock to keep you from your end goal!
Hey Jeff - this is such a huge topic I'll have to do a video to cover the nuances. That said, the big differences are (1) cost, (2) purpose, and (3) functionality. RE: cost, Stacker is more expensive and generally used by larger teams RE: purpose, Stacker is specifically for creating portals to your database whereas Softr can build any webapp from Airtable RE: functionality, Softr syncs with Airtable only whereas Stacker talks to Google Sheets as well. Also, Softr doesn't currently allow you to edit/update Airtable data, although that feature is coming soon. The formula in my Consultations table was: CONCATENATE(Client,' - ',DATETIME_FORMAT({Consultation Date},'l')) Hope this helps! 💪
Hi Gareth, great video! I was wondering is it enough to have one Airtable Pro account in order to use Stacker? I'm asking this because you showed that users can edit their data. Thanks in advance!
Another great video! I have a question about best practices when it comes to linking Contacts to Companies. In my DB I have one table for Contacts and another for Companies. This is useful, especially when several people work at the same company. Where it gets tricky is when a company has multiple locations (i.e. a New York office, Los Angeles, etc). To accommodate this I added a field called "Division" to the Company table. Is this the right approach...or would you create a third table where Companies are linked to local office locations?
Hi Gareth - we are trying to create a daily attendance system where parents at our school can check their children in and out each day. Which system would you recommend to use with this to link up to our airtable? Any more suggestions or videos that might help us in this process?
Hi David - I'd consider looking into three software options: Softr.io, Stacker.app, and miniExtensions.com - each of these tools allow you to build helpful front-end solutions for Airtable, but each tool has it's own strengths and weaknesses.
For some reason, stacker setup was different from yours, and I also got an error saying I needed to enter my AT password, but there wasn't a password restriction created????
I signed up, loaded my app, only to discover it doesn't work because I have linked records to another table and those linked records are not visible. Curious to know if this is not available because I'm using the unpaid version of stacker?
The unpaid version of Stacker, when I last checked, was offered as a trial. Meaning that you would have full access to Stacker during your free trial. I'm not sure why this isn't showing up for you as you've described...

@@GarethPronovost thanks you very much Gareth for this complete answer, I’ll investigate that ! Thanks for your advice.
Really nice

Great job!
Thank you, Mindy! 😊
Hi Gareth, thoughts on Stacker vs Softr.io? Also, what’s the fx formula you use for the first columns of Airtable Base?

Yes exactly! One user in Airtable, but many users in Stacker! 💪

how do you automate the receipts
One option is to use a software like documint - we have some vids on our channel about this automation.
For some reason, stacker setup was different from yours, and I also got an error saying I needed to enter my AT password, but there wasn't a password restriction created????
I've not seen that before - sorry!

Stacker vs Softr
It's coming soon!
