This thing looks neat but, $500? No way. X-Arcade is a good brand overall. Maybe I just see little point in the pedalstal it's attached too. I feel like there's other, MUCH more cost efficient ways of accomplishing whatever this thing is trying to do.
Yeah those parts are fine for budget controllers but for $500 how hard would it have been to spend a couple of extra bucks for the real things. They're not that much more expensive.
I don’t understand why these companies completely discard spinners. For old school games and an option for steering wheels, they have more uses that the trackball. Get with it!!!
Id rather they just have a modular spot and sell for cheaper and let you add on what you want. Me... Id rather just have sticks and buttons and nothing else 🤷 i dont like the clutter look of an all in one control panel, and personally dont play many games that would use those controls.. thats why id rather it be modular.
I noticed when you took the panel up that there are indeed two side buttons as well. Have you tried Pinball FX VR with it? It should feel very realistic for a pinball table controller.
Don't we need four side buttons to comfortably play pinball games though? For flippers _and_ tilt. There's a great innovation by Hit Box Arcade called C.O.M.B.O. Extension that allows you to add buttons without drilling holes, but I think that's only for standard Japanese buttons (30 mm) and not American buttons (28 mm).
@@triple_lei Great question, but i don't think so. Since the VR remotes are mounted in the holes, they have the ability to monitor motion from a fixed point, so bumping the unit would be akin to tilting the table.
Looks like a generally good idea with the adjustable height stand. The acrylic rgb seems like a waste of money for the consumer though. At $500 I'd expect higher quality buttons/sticks too. The trackball is nice to see, just needs a spinner. The VR seems like an odd choice and another thing that probably a waste for most consumers. A better use for those holes / that extra space would be for light guns imo.
I know with some of the brooks adapters that advertised compatibility with the Switch, it wasn’t that way out of the box, but when I updated the firmware of adapter, it was then able to work on Switch.
Have the tankstick w/ trackball and it is really good. had to swap out to a zero-lag since I had an older version. I typically use my arcade stick as a throwback, a time of being in the real world playing physical buttons/joysticks, etc, something more than a typical controller, so I dont see the point of VR. Think the tankstick is the way to go, and about $300 cheaper
@@DaveMunsie scratch that. I am not sure x-arcade made my sit-down cab, but a company called xtensions made it. search sit-down cab xtensions and you will find the cabinet where 2 players can sit, has an insert for the stick, and a mount for a flatscreen
The holes would have been perfect to mount a monitor right to it. Instant arcade game! I have the old model and it collects dust. Why? IT IS HUGE! The stand is a great idea. $500 though? No.
Their current controller board has 11ms average input lag through xinput wired directly to a pc. I hope for that money they've upgraded it because almost every other stick out there is better now
For a cheaper price you could see cheaper buttons but the company couldn't even give you like a good better and best option. The better and best option you get better buttons. But I guess it is a way for the company to save money but still over charge you.
I don't like how that thing is wobbling around while you're playing. You can tape over the holes if it's that bad for you. I love arcade emulators in VR and always have a hard time trying to figure out where to put my controller. And finally, the price is a no-go for me, especially with non-Sanwa buttons, though the inclusion of bat tops is a nice touch.
This thing looks awesome and exactly what I have been looking for to use with analogue pocket for arcade cores, does anyone know of this setup that will work with the AP?
I've been looking at this kit for several months now...Think I'd be more interested in actually buying if it wasn't for the price point...maybe I'll get a decent price drop for Black Friday...
@@cmag6581 I am still messing around with it, last night I did a little bit of testing and while it wasnt working I am a little hopeful there is some way to get it to as some buttons actually would register... Just no directions would register. Ill keep trying though.
I would prefer it in Black. I don't like the White color. For $500 it better have games built in. I have the X-Arcade Tankstick. It's half the price and basically does what I need it to do. But... to each their own.
I tried using an arcade stick before 😑 i hated it. I prefer a controller. It didn't feel right sitting down & playing with one 🤷🏾♀️ my mind keep going back to that one. This one has nothing to do with your video 😅 Anyway this one is pretty.
For $500 they really shouldn't have cheaper out on the buttons. That's pretty inexcusable. The VR app does seem like it has potential, but I agree they should have at least included something to cover up those holes if they're not being used.
They reached out to me after my video, previously I was only speaking to a PR firm they and I believe the VR app people were using which kind of wasn't really helping with answers much.. but they actually told me they have some plans that utilize the VR controller holes for addons... kind of sounds interesting. I wish some of the info they shared with me after the video I knew before hand... but Ill be doing some follow up content in the near future... one of the first things may actually be the Nintendo Switch compatibility... just seems like there was some miscommunication and errors on how things were listed with compatibility but Switch should work with another Brook adapter... still an extra cost but at least it should work.
It has adjustments on the legs if needed. I moved the setup to my garage and the floor is a little wonky but in my house when I was using it I didnt notice it wobbling, if you get a little rough maybe it will move a little. Also on the sides where it locks into place it can be tightened or loosened, that may contribute to wobbling Im not sure.. when I moved it to my garage I did loosen both sides a little. I am going to be filming a couple more videos with it coming up and will make sure the sides are tightened and will use it in my house when filming, then I guess we can compare.
This feels like a compromised review. You can't call something "almost perfect" with the laundry list of issues that you pointed out. Far too many TH-camrs are afraid of calling out something when they receive things.
I do think its awesome, if it comes in black and works on Android... But the price... $300 = Take my money now! | $400 = I'll wait and see if it goes on sale... | $500 = Eh, I could just build this from my tankstick...
I like the look of the build Quality. tank stick does build tanks. I’d swap buttons first thing regardless, but that button layout is horrible. Makes me sad, hard pass.🤷🏾♂️
I own a couple of their sticks and while the sticks are very durable their button layout is terrible. Those 2 buttons under the other 6 are useless and in the way!
500$ and no sanwa buttons? To who is aimed this product? Because as a daily arcade stick user this is not really comparable to anything good that has the half of the price, and i would not buy it just for a flashy logo and a stand..
Those extra 2 buttons under the main 6 buttons layout look painful 😓🤐 whoever designed it never played Street Fighter where u require to do Honda/Chun Li Handslap or Lighting kick 🤣😂 $500 with a rollerball, no Sanwa buttons 🤣😂🤔 and I thought the Evercade Alpha was expensive, but this is a rip off
But alas my stupid 59 years of old age and knows nothing about computers and I have lost very expensive console systems I can’t afford anymore because I can’t figure out how to use them! I can’t figure out how to download the games. I’m not kidding I got fired from my old job because I couldn’t figure out how to use a computer. If it’s not plug n play I don’t want it!
500 bucks for a overpriced joystick 🙄 heck to the no… but wait it’s a additional 100 bucks to use on ps5… 🙄 Naaah my dual sense works perfectly fine… and why would you even want to use this thing on the switch 😂
What even is that button layout? Why not use a more traditional 4x4 layout so you can play neo geo properly? And then it uses shitty chinese parts? It's a hard pass.

I agree a huge whiff what were they thinking. I can pick up an AtGames Legend for $499 and it comes with a full arcade w/ spinners.

Wild that X-Arcade is still around, wish they still produced the cabinets, totally would have bought one.
RecRoomMasters is pretty good if you got the space/money. Same for Gameroomsolutions, who can also whip up cabinent art for you.
Really wish they would have had some spinners... Also, would be neat to re-purpose those holes for light guns.

For $500, it should be compatible with all the popular systems out of the box. WTH!? Plus, the thing should be more stable. Build better base.
There's people on reddit that will 3d print pretty much anything for you, you could have someone make a cupholder adapter for you
I'm sure STL files for prints will be all over the regular 3D print sites in no time.
Yep, also Mr. Sujano's channel looks at some of these 3d printed mods and arcade pads from time to time
