Clear “Mother” issues aside, I love the idea of Arlecchino choosing to be called “Father” specifically to reject everything the previous knave was.

@@I.disagree Peruere (current Arlecchino/Knave) had to kill all the other "children" to become "king" (a title she later rejected before she killed the "mother"), therefore Freminet would have been killed by Peruere too if he was one of the children.
Despite never seeing the killing of children other than Clervie on screen, we see a sword half-buried with the Bullet Fruit accessory the blonde girl at the start had, meaning she was also killed.
Also the "story" the previous Knave told at the beginning of the animation seems to be implied true, in which case that would mean all children other than Peruerehave been killed, perhaps not all by her but by other children who were later also killed.
There's also the obvious age gap between Peruere and Freminet, it wouldn't have made sense for them to have grown up together...
@@Levv.editxx Freminet has memories of the previous Knave though, and it could very much be possible for Freminet to have been just a toddler at this time. I highly doubt the boy is Freminet, the hair is different, the boy lacks freckles and the boy has different eyes.
Also, it would make sense if Freminet was a toddler at this time considering Peruere looks like a preteen or in her early teens when she defeats the previous Knave, meaning they would probably have an age gap of a decade, give or take, which seems accurate considering Freminet is implied to be an adult.

The lore of Arlecchino in particular and genshin in general can be said to be very massive and has many emotional details enough to turn it into a perfect anime

It's not enough to excuse her attempt on Furina's life, the way she raises children into soldiers for the Fatui, nor her seeming uncaringness towards them.

Either that, or you're saying that her being cruel and manipulative is justified because "gOoD iNtEnTiOnS". Nothing can excuse an abusive adult, because it's up to _them_ to behave properly.
Arlecchino has _everything_ she needs to become a good parent: she knows how abuse and deceit feels, she has the Fatui's funding and resources for supplies, she has the diplomatic immunity that'd let her go to _any_ library on Teyvat to purchase a book on parenting, and she also has colleagues she can talk to for advice. Combining all of that with the fact that she has the correct motive means that the only reason she hasn't done all of this is because she doesn't care about the children enough to do so. Arlecchino would lose absolutely _nothing_ by making an _actually good_ orphanage, likely earning a few passing remarks from the other Harbingers _at worst._

In the original Chinese, Clervie is said to be the previous knave’s biological daughter! This fact didn't translate in the English version for some reason
Also, in JP and CN versions. Arlecchino answers the previous Knave ‘ You don’t deserve it!’ (あなた。無理。)instead of ‘My answer is no’. Which I think it gives more tension the emotions.

It’s a really nice touch that Peruere chose to be the perfect opposite of the prior Knave - rather than a “mother” who hides her uncaring nature behind false love, she’s a “father” who disguises how much she honestly cares for her charges with a mask of stoicism.
That dismissive comment about "grotesque wilted flowers" was about Clervie and the other girls who didn't make the cut. Good riddance to that false "mother."
Probably specifically about Clervie. The flower is a lumidouce which is the same as Clervie's pendant.
Apparently in the chinese dub Clervie was her flesh and blood yet "Mother" couldn't give any less of a crap about whether she died

to me this gave bad ending version of Bronya's time in the orphanage vibes. Clervie gives Seele wanting to see the sea vibes, the Mother is kinda like Cocolia and her mistreatment of the kids and rather than how Bronya's story went, Arlecchino killed Mother and took over.
i still think shes a Raven expy but in the Ei way (Ei is like Kallen and Mei but with Sakura's backstory) where they have an alternate history from a different character to the one they technecally also match.

Raven never had to kill her loved one and certainly didn't kill her sadistic parental figure. While there's faint traces of similarity (giving up her brother and being taught harshly) Raven's story is far too dissimilar to be considered an expy especially considering they look nothing alike as well.
Took a break in the last 2 patches but this one... this one might be the one that brings me back into GI.

I don't think it was Arlecchino who killed her friend Clervie. What pierced Clervie was probably Mother's ice spike. It seemed like Clervie fell with the spike in her and Arlecchino still had her sword in hand. Also, when Mother was talking about pruning the innocent and kind, she was talking about Clervie.
I thought her friend saw Arlecchino had her sword out and stabbed herself on the sword to give Arlecchino the title of "king" and to go out on her own terms, but then again I have not played Genshin since 2.5, I have stayed up to date on the major plot points though

@@justsomeguy727 You are in the extreme minority because the Flamechaser arc was Hi3's by far most popular story arc of all time, and during that period Hi3 made record profits the likes of which haven't been seen again by that game. Now Shaoji has COMPLETELY turned Honkai Star Rail around with the Penacony arc, where before it Genshin was still making more money than HSR. Post-Penacony, EVERYONE is praising "Peakacony" and HSR made $150k last month while Genshin barely made $50k.
You may not like Shaoji's writing, but you cannot deny he is a master at what he does and can make games thrive solely from the quality of his writing.

In the trailer I think it was mentioned Arlecchino choose Lyney as the possible future of the 'King' which in the animetion Arlecchino ultimately becomes sort of the King, but the 'Mother' died before she could be the 'one true King'. And how to be the 'King'? In the past, the children were forced to fight each other until one stand alone champion. I'm thinking Arlecchino might will do something similar, but have Lyney fight her along with his siblings.
It's a sad thing in its own way that as she grew to be head of the House of the Hearth she would rather be a 'cold and unfeeling Father' rather than a false warm and loving 'Mother'. The trailer was incredible though and given i haven't fully caught up in the main Genshin story yet myself it admit helps further solidify my drive to get through it and maybe try to learn a bit more about her beyond just appreciating her design.
