I just came across your videos as I am outlining and prepping for finals. You've explained Civ Pro in like 3 hours what I didn't learn in 13 weeks. You're amazing

This is the absolute best thing I've come across ! I am a 3L and prepping for my LAST LAW SCHOOL FINAL - this is exactly what I needed it . Brief simple explanations , I'm using these videos to make my attack outlines and I'm wayy more confident for the exam . I'll definitely be back once I start studying for the bar.

OMG. Foreal I just want to say you formal just taught me in 9 min what removal was and I totally understand it now. I spend a week on this in class and had no idea what was going on. You took your time and went step by step thanks so much. Recommend this video for any law students that Civ Pro 2. Also I like how you gave examples for both kinds federal question and diversity jurisdiction.

I like how you are direct and how you express yourself. One detail is that the copyright case would have been dismissed from state court sua sponte because Federal Court has exclusive jurisdiction over copyright law. Therefore, there would have not necessarily been removal because the state court would never have acquired jurisdiction over the case.

Isn’t copyright infringement exclusive to federal courts? So the the plaintiff couldn’t have filed in State court from the beginning?

    Hi Michael,
Let's say there was diversity AND there was FQJ, but still filed in Texas State Court - could the Defendant still remove to federal court, arguing that FQJ is enough to rely on and diversity is irrelevant to tying their hands on removal?

How is it decided which federal circuit court a removed case will go to?

What if there is a Federal question jurisdiction removal to Federal Court by one of two named defendants, where the other defendant is from the same state as the plaintiff who filed in that state's court ? In other words, the second defendant defeats diversity but the first defendant removes based on Federal question jurisdiction. Can the defendants be in separate courts or do one or the other get forced into the court of the other?

But if the plaintiff is from NY and you add a defendant from NY, that destroys diversity so maybe change the 2nd defendant in hypo to NJ instead of NY, then this video would be bomb.

This is great guidance! Simple to understand, but all the physical movement of the body was so distracting.
