I'll never forget, on/after 11Sep01, as we were spinning up for some payback, our local rock station, 99 Rock, was playing this and similar songs (e.g., AC/DC For Those About To Rock, and Larry Gatlin's God Bless The USA) constantly. Maybe they were at least partially playing it for us, knowing what we were going to do in AF to the Taliban and Al Queada (sp? been a long time). AC-130H Spectre and AC-130U Spooky (aka U boat) don't take prisoners. As they say, you can run, but you'll only die tired.
It was available for free download on their website but Jesse wouldn’t sell copies. He said, and I concurred, this song was about retribution, not money. In hindsight he screwed up though. It could have sold with the profit going to charity. It’s anybodies guess where or why it’s not still available.
This song gave voice to the anger and frustration most of us were feeling at the time 9/11 happened. It's gay because someone is expressing their emotion through art? That's kind of the entire point of artistic expression. If you create something, and it doesn't come from a place of emotion, I highly doubt the end product would be anything interesting.
