US Gov : our debt reach 26 trillion dollars this year. How we can pay that?! Zimbabwe : "hand over a single 100 trillion dollar note" pfftt, dude.. keep the change.
You know, in some sense, this is what's going to happen. The U.S. government will keep printing more and more money, devaluing the dollar, and thus, reduces the effective amount owned to foreign governments.
I lived in Zimbabwe through that era and it was beyond tough. There are no words to describe this kind of economic chaos and poverty. The government at the time and current 2021 are too involved in stealing and self indulging, they forgot about the people.
In Chile we used to use 1 and 5 pesos coins which costed more to produce. They're no longer being made. Also, if the price ends with ≥5 then it rounds up, else, it's rounded down.
You got hyperinflation half right, the fleeing of farmers evaporated the country’s resources and productive capacity . Money creation, so long as there is sufficient resources and productive capacity, will adjust in time but without any, the value of the currency will hyper-deflate irregardless of how much currency is created.
"Fiat money" is a trust that the dollar has an actual worth; when you artificially make the dollar "worth" more by making bigger bank notes, the value of a single unit actually goes way down
1400 years ago, a man (prohet Muhammad p.b.u.h) buy a goat for 1 dirham gold(4.25grams of gold) and now the price for a goat still the same. because the gold have intrinsic value. that is the thing Muammar ghadafi and Saddam Hussein try to achieve before media bias the statement from leaders to dictatorship. just throwback 20-30 years ago how libya and iraq past and present. nail it.
