Loved Jimmy in everything over the years... stepped in and crushed it in NYPD Blue, first episode of Miami Vice, and amazing in Dexter. Seems like a super chill guy off screen.
And don’t forget his role in Sons of Anarchy! I didn’t see that coming. And he was great in the West Wing as well. Hell, he’s been good in everything he’s done,
@@monexpo86seeing it splatter all over the floor cause he was 4 floors up. Billy crystal and Gregory Hines were throwing it down. Yes great scene. Cool movie. Trivia! The song sweet freedom from Michael McDonald is from that movie. The greatest voice of the eighty’s. ❤️
Running Scared is one of the classics I can keep watching over and over, I think him then Crystal with Hines makes for one of the best buddy cop films of all time.
"I did this movie with Peter Hyams...". Running Scared. You did Running Scared! Billy Crystal, Dan Hedaya ("You are the detectives. Go, and DETECT!"), and the incomparable Gregory Hines delivering the greatest Flipping of the Bird in all of Hollywood history. "YeeeeeEEEEEEESSSS!!!"
In my opinion, and I'm not an expert, but I used to watch television, and in the days of LA Law, they were still new. It was after this show did well that you started seeing law shows, hospital shows, police shows on every network. So the first thing is timing, it worked out well for LA Law. And Jimmy mentioned the other two important factors for any show to do well. If you have the writing and the cast gets along, now along with the right timing, you have a hit.
My mancrush on Jimmy just deepened! What an absolutely amazing man he is. I came across this video after watching a couple videos of Dennis Franz who is also an absolutely amazing man. God Bless them and their families.
Old Gringo” a underrated Western. Burt Lancaster was set to co- star but no bonding company would insure him ,so Gregory Peck was hired. Great story, incredible!!
like his buddy Luis Guzman, Smits is one of the truly great character actors of his generation. You almost forget how damn good he was in the last couple of seasons of Sons of Anarchy, as well as "The West Wing"...
@@Paul-ew5st It was a fashion parade. I live in the North of Scotland so I'm a sucker for anything that shows sunshine and blue water for a whole hour. I know, shallow.
@@thomasbusy3632 no, I think he was trying to be respectful to the people in the stories he was telling and measuring his words. Trying to not talk about legends out of school.
One of those who cant get past politics, how many friends have you lost over politics. . Got news for you, none of them give a crap about us, both sides
Why? He literally said nothing political, he just said that he met him and talked to him, likely for character development. Obama's politics may not be your cup of tea but there was nothing there about politics.
Such a humble man and extremely talented / underrated actor

Sons of Anarchy too!

Dexter, the West Wing, Star Wars.. I love this man’s work. I would say he’s underrated.
Meh. He's fine but he's pretty much the same in almost every role.
Don’t forget Sons of Anarchy
My god, I had no idea. Can you image hanging with Gregory Peck at his house? Just incredible.
The Old Gringo.
Running Scared is so underrated too.

Running Scared! One of my all time favorites! Great villain!
Sweet Freedom one of the best soundtrack songs ever.

Julio Gonzalez
What a career (including the great 80s Miami Vibe and LA Law) and WOW he’s lookin amazing at 67!
Except for the 'stache. I don't love it.
Running Scared is one of the classics I can keep watching over and over, I think him then Crystal with Hines makes for one of the best buddy cop films of all time.
As a Star Wars fan, I will remember Jimmy smits as senator bail organa.
He was incredible in Dexter
this man is 67 years old? Wow!

I was shocked that the name of the film wasn't stated. That movie wasn't a huge hit, but I wld say it was a hit.
@@ericsloss3963 Great film, loved the dynamic between Hines and Crystal, heaps of laughs and one-liners.
That was a great movie.
I think technically Tubbs’ brother was the first character killed in MV. Jimmy’s character was second, but was technically first *IN* Miami.
Loved NYPD
always enjoyed jimmy
SOA
even Bluff City Law
he always makes the shows better

Wow so Jimmy Smits has worked with Steven Bochco, Aaron Sorkin, and Michael Mann. Not bad company if you can get it.
Plus Wim Wenders
David Milch too
Not Aaron Sorkin, no. Matt Santos was first introduced in the fourth episode of season six, well after Sorkin had already left the series.
what a life!
Sidney Poitier and Gregory Peck

Bobby Simone!!
I saw him in Shakespeare in the Park in 2004, he was great.
That was great. Gotta watch the whole episode now!!
What a legend , when he appears in brooklyn 99 it's unbelievable funny

I loved him in Running Scared
His Dexter role was my favorite.
LEGEND!
If Miami Vice was a soap opera, he could have came back as his evil twin! Lol

First time I saw Jimmy Smits was in Running Scared with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines.
Also he was in How to get away with Murder Great show 💕💥💯
Jimmy looks so good! He ain't old he looks like he's 20 yo.
Nice hairpiece - looks natural.
He may be a Vampire.
Class act!
Loved NYPD BLUE
Can someone tell me what "great work in Chicago" Barry O was doing?
So Jimmy did you also meet 'Big Mike'?
Watching now NYPD Blue, love Jimmy but he is dead now.
Love the show, so truth and great actors waaauw 12 episodes don't sleep at all 👍💕
You scared me for a minute. I'm also binge watching NYPD. You mean Bobby is dead. Whew!
@@maureendavidson4635 Watch Dexter, Jimmy is back alive, also great show 😉
Legend
Real dude
Markitos pops !!
This guy has been in a lot of stuff
Rich: is it true you brokered a Middle East peace deal?
Jimmy: Omg yes! How do you know that???
Jimmy Smits.....sounds like Mafia
Did I miss the question about NYPD Blue?
yes
NYPD blue? Dexter? Naw….STAR WARS
You would think that a star that big wouldn't be trimming his own mustache - or someone would tell him what it looked like .......
I have to say... Jimmy Smits was the guy I least expected to be here...
Rich being Nardwuar here...
you gonna make the lame production value comment EVERY TIME???
Horse schite about Obama being an inspiration for that role. Total hollywood actor bs.
I surely wouldn’t own up to knowing Obama.
I tried going back and watching a few Miami Vice eps man that show was trash
What?
@@nope1502 Its unwatchable the acting is terrible the writing is bad everything looks great but that's it.
