The major reason that many great songs don't get radio play is because of nothing more than "TIME". Radio stations aren't the way they use to be and this is also why you can no longer request a DJ to play a song. They have a format and prefer 3 to 3.5, rarely a 5-minute song ever gets play. In the early days there was the 78 that spun at 78 RPM's and there was the 10 inch one got 3 minutes and a 12 inch record that had 4 minutes. Then 45's came out and they started using vinyl records to make them and that contributed to the 78 becoming obsolete.
The love I have for this song can’t be explained by mere mortal words. I’m no football player, but I got a 2 year old son and I could never live my life without him now. For her to not even give him the option, it breaks my heart. At least allow him the choice to take his football career or be a father. Fatherhood is the best thing in this world. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers who know what I mean.
I think perhaps he was supposed to meet her outside and never did. So she drove away. His car shows that he was there (home) and chose not to come out. I think he chose his football career over going to California with her and starting a family. The ending about how he wonders where they'd be if he "never scored that last touch down," means if she didn't get pregnant. Would they have kept dating? Gotten married? etc. Also could signify that without the touchdown he might not have had the pressure/pull of a football career.
Listen to the version bt Larry Gatlin, Roy Orbison , Barry Gibb and a couple other, not sure if all three Gatlins are on it, even better than this. Just a beautiful song!
Man, Brooks and Dunn (then) had the ability to simply create song ballads that just stuck to you like cotton candy. I know this song has been round for a while...but listening to it now...feels like a new memory flowing! I love their harmonies, the strings, even this video...great job!
Brooks and Dunn touch my ENTIRE heart mind body and soul. For me, there's No One like them. I listen to them everyday. Ronnie's voice is Soo incredible. It's everything the music's, the lyrics etc. Indian Summer 👍♥️
@diannegililand4552 That's cause it was in right around that same era of like Garth Brooks and Clint Black where it was the old style of country now you got all this new age crap lol.
This is one of those songs that touches your heart and makes your soul want to 🕺dance 💃, this song creates such an emotional pull, never ever get tired of hearing it, love it!
What a great song and what country today is missing, a great story. Not to mention the twist: I wonder where we’d be if I hadn’t scored that last touchdown. Big chills!
Yes this is my favorite and it should have more attention and awards, Ronnie Dunn has the most magical voice i could listen 🎶 to him all night long ❤ 💙 ♥ 😍 💖
I never heard it on the radio. It was on a Greatest Hits album so they must have expected it to do well. I don't know why it wasn't a hit. A haunting song.
It's about teenage pregnancy. As a mom who had a baby at 16. I can say, this world is cruel to the teenager who chose life.y daughter was the best thing that ever happened to me...16 or not. And pop culture can kiss it!!! This song wasn't even played at their past concert.
Brooks and Dunn 1 of the best most liked duos in all music. These guys can rock the house and put a tear in your eyes. Grew up to these guys and was also my first concert I ever went to in Oklahoma
I just love this song, even though its got a deeper meaning than the outer words reveal, we all have that moment of regret we made a choice for someone else and never thought maybe they would have wanted different
My problem has been the exact opposite. I’ve always considered what everyone else wanted me to do and never really made a decision based on what I wanted.
i think its awesome that this was filmed in my home town, small towns are where its all at. To many people are into the hustle of life, you rarely get the chance to notice the small things that are important
So I just looked up Chowchilla, California on google maps. Sorry, but that's not a small town... It looks like a nice place to live, but definitely not small town living. You should look up Johannesburg, Michigan on google maps. We are the true meaning of small town living out here.
@@I_Stuck_Ur_Mom LOL it’s tiny.... sorry, you’re mistaken. If you’re looking at the population, about 2/3 of it is made up of the prison population because there are two large prisons that are added into the town’s numbers skewing it greatly. My great grandparents moved there in the 1940’s, my grandparents graduated from this high school, my parents did, and I went there as well. I can safely say it’s a small farming town.
I love Brooks and Dunn Ronnie can sing the phone book or a catalog lol effortlessly his voice and tone is impeccable and Indian Summer is a favorite of mine ❤
To get that look the director actually kept on slapping her in the face before each take. True story. But they had to film the other side of her face, the unslapped side so the red mark couldn’t be seen each time.
This song is beautiful. It reminds me of my friend she was the head cheerleader and he was played Football for our rival team and she got prego and took off for cali just like the girl in the video. She had a little girl who is so beautiful and is my Goddaughter.
Heard this song when I was young after my folks divorced, my dad would just play these kind of songs on drives and we wouldn’t say anything but there would be a silent exchange of emotions. It was therapeutic.
This song gives me chills reminds me of all those guys you date in school that feel like the one, the ones you put your heart into and it gets ripped and stepped all over

Ronnies vocals are amazing and Kix guitar is really good

One of my favorite tunes from B&D, such a jam!!!
Used this song in one of my fics a long time ago to honor Brooks&Dunn and how awesome they were and still would be, if they were still together today.
Another great hit from my two favorite people. You guys rock.....

Great song. Great lyrics.
I like when folks say 'I don't believe there are Angels Among Us. ME: Have you ever heard Ronnie Dunn sing? ;)
sunflowers28 Yeah he's awesome he could sing the phone book and get a number one hit
No I haven’t heard him sing yet.

Very surprised this song and video doesn't have more likes. Great song and touching video
It is, but it's sad! She ends up on a beach, with his son, but without him...
Love this song, but Roy Orbison and Reba McEntire tote it up,,
