Don't "dip" it, dunk it until its SOAKED until the bread is soft and soggy when you eat it.

TONGS. Also - DEEPER DIPS so the bread soaks-up that Au Jus! My girlfriend loves Johnny's and I prefer McCormicks so we keep both on-hand. I also smear my roast beast with horseradish sauce for an extra yum-delivery!

Try the Heinz Bistro Au Jus dip. It comes in a jar and is made of real beef stock, not hydrolized soy protein.
I use that on my steaks.

The French Dip started by accident! A customer in a sandwich shop ordered a roast beef sandwich, and the shop owner dropped it into some beef broth by mistake. He started to make another one, but the customer said he was in a hurry. He took the one that was dropped. The next day, the customer was back to order another roast beef sandwich, and he wanted it dropped in the broth again! The owner tried it, and then it went on the menu. Now it's everywhere.

@@AintWorkinNoMo I saw it on a show about accidental discoveries. For example, Silly String started out as a way for the military to do a makeshift cast out in the field. It didn't work, though. However, it was fun to play with! So kids played with Silly String for years, until the military learned that it could be used to detect booby traps! If there's a trip wire, the Silly String hangs in the air. The company donated piles of it to the military in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sugar cookies are the lowest form of cookie. A sugar cookie without sugar is a cracker. Bleh.
You can put icing on cookies. You can have filling like an Oreo. You can have raisins or cranberries, peanut chunks, almonds, or other nuts.
Big globs of gooey chocolate oozing that creamy goodness all over the warm cookie.
      There are options here.

Don't worry about the dental issues Carol. I've had dentures since I was 28 and I'll be 62 in a few days. Went through Hades for 8 years until I got them. Now I tell everyone that I have an advantage..when my teeth hurt I can just take them out. 😂
We have French Dip/Au Jus whenever I can catch roast on sale. I throw it in my Instant Pot with 2-3 packs of the McCormick's mix for about 30-45 minutes. The roast will shred with a fork. I leave the shredded roast in the Jus so it doesn't dry out and just ladle sone out for dipping. Then we serve them with french fries.. Soak that bread in the Au Jus. It's supposed to get a bit soggy and siak up those flavors.
You did a great job though Recky. The best French Dip I ever had was at a little pub in downtown Houston. They served it with caramelized onions and melted Swiss cheese on it. So yummy.

There's a REASON we Americans love our dips and sauces. Depending on how much you add each bite tastes just a bit different. We love flavor! 😉
You both did a great job with this. Carol in her role of supervisor, videographer plus sous chef and Recky with the NOT cooking/baking and comedian. 😂👍
BTW, adding a bit of flour or cornstarch does a good job of cutting a bit of the saltiness and thickening the soup/sauce but in this case you actually want it a bit watery. The bread is supposed to soak it in which also helps with the salt and brings out the flavor more. Yes, that means your bread is a tiny bit soggy but with a crusty bread it doesn't matter because it will still maintain a bit of crunch from toasting it and the flavor is totally worth it! Also, it's actually helpful in Carol's case with making a crusty bread easier to chew. I hope you're feeling better soon Carol! 🙏

That one features sliced roast beef, simmered in the broth with tomato paste and Italian herbs until it's falling apart, then served on a crusty roll with either pepperoncini or giardiniera, and dipped in the broth as you eat like a French dip. I make ground beef Salisbury steak and I mix in a pack of McCormick Aju dry mix in the beef along with a pack of dry mushroom gravy, sautéed diced onions, pepper, garlic powder, worstshire, some bread crumbs and a little salt. Sometimes some steak seasoning too. An egg or so if it needs more help staying together. Lightly flour then fry off just a little, set aside to drain then finish cooking in a pan of beef broth with gravy mix added and some diced onions and bell peppers that have been slightly sautéed. I leave out mushrooms cause I don’t like actual mushrooms but you could put them in as well. Along with a dollop of sour cream. Very good with mashed potatoes. Just make sure the hamburger Pattie’s aren’t real thick and are sorta oval.

I have had bad teeth my whole life, it runs in my family. My mom was the only one of all 5 siblings to keep all her teeth and have only 1 filling. The others all had partials or full sets before graduation. My self started finally getting my all pulled in my early 20’s after going to the dentist 3 times a year every year since I was 5. It’s like soft enamel. Basically it didn’t matter how much I flossed or brushed, it was inevitable they were going. Finally got all of them out by about age 32. I’ve always preferred to eat without my teeth, even when it was just a partial. I only put my teeth in for holidays or specific things. If I’m going to the store or at home I don’t generally wear them. I don’t care what others think I care about what’s comfortable to me.

I live near Houston, Texas. Today's high is 87 degrees Fahrenheit. Tomorrow's high is going to be 49 degrees Fahrenheit. Would not be so bad if it would do it slowly, over several days.

Recky, when you bit into the bread the crunch is mouthwatering!!! Glad y'all enjoyed it! Did you know the French Dip sandwich was an accident? Yep! Someone made a sandwich & accidently dropped it into some broth... & it was a hit! I'll hear that bread crunching in my dreams tonight!

I hope you can get your teeth fixed soon. I feel so bad that you are embarrassed about them. Just know most of us aren't judging you, and don't focus on people's looks. It's about the content and the character of the people doing the video's. I enjoy watching your reactions. Be proud of who you are, you're beautiful with or without a few teeth, just a lovely person :)

The thinner one is the more usual one. Usually sause made with beef drippings and water. The concentrate is probably too intense.

I love a good wet sloppy beef sandwich swimming in French dip aka aju sauce aka drippings. I definitely need a bib when I eat theese.

In Louisiana, we have a sandwich called a po’boy. It’s a crusty French baguette filled with whatever meat or seafood you like and “dressed” with mayo, lettuce, tomato and sliced pickles. One of the most popular is the roast beef po’boy. It is piled with roast beef and drenched in gravy. It is wet, messy and delicious! We judge how good the sandwich is by how many napkins are used while eating it.

I've never seen a French dip sandwich have cheese before!
As usual, you are _shockingly conservative_ with the amount of sauce you use (or here, degree of dipping)! I *plunge* my sandwich into the jus and hold it long enough for the bread to soak it up. You are very. . . timid, lol.

Didn't go through comments first but if it hasn't been said.... put cheese on baguette first, it will help melt cheese faster and dip the Sammy in the Au Jus for at least 40 seconds. It will be softer and easier to chew. When the meat is done, dump it ALL in the Jus and grab the meat from there. The French Dip is a sloppy, juicy sandwich 🥪 😋. Enjoy and then enjoy again. 😉

Young/mild Gouda is such a subtly delicious cheese, and versatile because it melts and blends so easily. It's part of the "holy trinity" I use, along with Swiss and sharp Cheddar, for macaroni and cheese. There is an extra-cream version of Gouda, called "roomkaas" (pronounced, roughly, "rome-kahss"), that has been one of my two favorite cheeses ever since I was too young to even realize it had a name. Oh -- and here's a hot tip: In Dutch, "Gouda" is pronounced "khow-duh", so it rhymes with the New England pronunciation of "chowder" as "chowdah". I've never heard even one single person on the Food Network pronounce it the Dutch way.
When making your three colors of cookie dough, there's no law against taking the three colors, rolling them out into long logs, then putting the three back together lengthwise and making one giant three-colored log. Then when you cut them you get three-colored cookies. And putting the eyes on goes faster if you use both hands at once, ambidextrous-style.

Man, Recky, you seemed a bit rattled at the first of this video. Are you OK now? It was great seeing Meja in this one. I was waiting to see Chef Moa but I guess she was busy planning out the next Not a Cooking Show, LOL!!!

If I were you, I wouldn't just be lightly dipping it, I'd be soaking it. Put that sandwich in there and let it soak for longer than a few seconds. That'll make the bread softer so Carol can eat it. Besides that, it'll be delicious.

I strongly recommend that you REALLY treat yourselves and roast some meat and make a proper pan jus. Those mixes and concentrates are mostly salt and yeast extracts. There's nothing quite like a true roast beef au jus. Glad you enjoyed your meals!

I cannot afford to send anything but try dipping French bread into a mixture of balsamic vinaigrette, olive oil, salt and pepper and Parmesan cheese. It’s a really good bread dip.

Did not see all of the cookie making since you were having questions about making them, but in the last tasting part, they look like what I always made for my kids and we called them Pastel Cookies, made with flavored jello added to the basic sugar cookie batch to make different flavors. Big hit. The french dip is a very good try, and unless you totally mess up it is hard to not like. Good vid.
