Takes a couple seasons to really get going, character development, story arcs and all, but once it reaches full steam it's a wild, wild ride. ~ Winter IS Coming
I'd argue it gets going pretty much straight away to be fair. I'd agree that season 1 can seem a bit slower and I think it's better on rewatch but some insane things still happen in season 1 and it really sets the tone for the rest of the show.

In the book Bran was only 7 and when he caught the twins in the tower he thought they were wrestling. Reminded me of 6 year old neighbor kid, his dog had pups, but when he saw the dogs in the act he thought their tails were tied together. Sweet Summer Children!

@@Real97til Nah it ain't that serious. This show is as deep as you want it to be. You can casually watch the whole thing and you won't miss anything. The major plot points in this show aren't exactly subtle. So don't stress over keeping track of every detail. There's just a LOT of characters all doing different shit so it can get confusing sometimes. But yeah. If you want to pay more attention, it's a much better show. There's lots of scenes that don't seem important at all until much later. It's hella deep.

Understandably, the TV show had to cut short storylines and characters, because of course you can't possibly adapt everything from book to tv, but the books give you more of an insight into the characters, their motivations, their flaws etc
