My father worked at Lockheed aircraft for a while back in the 50s in Marietta Georgia. When I was still in high school, he and I got to walk through the mock up they had built in Marietta to present the aircraft to the military and the government.. They built the mock up in the largest hanger they had at Lockheed at the time. The airplane was so big and the hangers were so small that the support beams for the roof of the hanger went through the inboard engine nacelles on the mock-up.. At the time there was not a hanger on the entire block each site large enough to hold a C5.
I was at Edwards Air Force Base during this program. I still have my letter carried in the bomb bay of the B-2 during it's maiden flight from Plant 42 in Palmdale to Edwards Air Force Base. We have the only painting of the B-2 with both signatures. It's being donated to the Smithsonian.
I made these designs before they had cad-cam computers I studied military aircraft most of my life.Think about this I currently don't have a pilot license funny isn't it.
