    I think a big issue when it comes to talking to transphobes is they categorize trans women with cis men. They think that statistics relating to cis men can be applied towards trans women and they dismiss statistics relating towards trans women specifically.

    Thank you for such an eloquent, grown up and accurate portrayal of trans women - and all of us. You are correct that a woman's space is only safe if the people going there are decent. If a man wants to rape a woman, a women's bathroom won't keep her safe. Thankfully such incidents are few - though one is way too many. And trans women are just wanting the same - to be safe. Thank you also for highlighting the fact that trans women are more likely to be attacked. An attack on anyone - anyone at all is wrong. I have long socially transitioned, but I am medically on that journey now. Thank you again and hope your channel continues to grow.

    Another point to be made on the “fairness” of sports is that sports never have been fair. Every single person who has ever competed in sports has had some kind of biological advantage or disadvantage over someone else. From height, weight, muscle mass, body fat %, bone density, wingspan, lactic acid build up, metabolism, hormone levels, finger length, dexterity, foot length and width, lung capacity, disabilities, mental health conditions, and so much more, everyone has their own advantages and disadvantages. Hell even wealth is a huge factor as it gives you access to better gear, nutrition, coaches and healthcare for injuries.
    The only time any of these issues are considered is when they can be used against trans people. If a cisgender athlete had the exact same advantages, no one would care. It’s not about fairness, it’s about bigotry.

    i think people should let their kids play around and let them get as much experience as possible no doubt. Even when i was a child i enjoyed "girly" stuff and fantasized how much easier my life would be as a girl. Any i'm sure almost EVERY teen can remember how they cringed to some of their past decisions or actions. But that's how we got the experiences in the first place.
    With that said i think children are experimenting a lot and at these ages letting them make long-term or even life-long decisions is just wrong. If my past 9-year-old self would have known that i CAN be a girl i probably would have done it. I couldn't even imagine what i'd be now

    • @notdefining
      @notdefining  ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Children are not permitted to have irreversible procedures and you would not have done it when you were 9 because the rigorous psychological procedures would have reflected that you just enjoyed “girly” stuff. This is different to having gender dysphoria or being trans. Do you see the key distinctions there?

    You open by making a statement basically saying the bureaucracy of “slowness” of the system protects a child from receiving treatment erroneously. What happens if the system is not slow? I believe that reality is already here to some degree. I believe you need to rethink your position.

    • @notdefining
      @notdefining  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The thoroughness of the system, the research and the expertise of medical and psychological professional bodies protects a child from receiving treatment “erroneously”.

    Another good point to mention when it comes to children transitioning is that sometimes it can be life saving for the child. If the dysphoria is so bad and they are self-harming, there is no other option. But this is very individual rare circumstance. For the most part, children transitioning is not happening and so is irrelevant to the conversation of trans rights.

    • @AlexReynard
      @AlexReynard 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Multiple European countries have reviewed the research and found there is no evidence supporting this. A recent California study even found that suicidality increases after medical transition.
      This is simply a lie put out by the medical industry. I cannot understand why none of you are suspicious of, 'If you don't do this thing that is incredibly profitable for us, you'll die.'

      If this is in response to the claim that children aren't having irreversible procedures, he is lying. He is taking what the gender clinics *say* as if that's evidence. Go listen to Chloe Cole talk about how doctors rushed her into a double mastectomy at 15 instead of acknowledging that she was never trans, but autistic.
