So I only heard their album 'Honey' and a handfull of other songs so far, but maybe I'll check out their new album?

My favorite Scandal song is the absolute overlooked "Heaven Na Kibun" . Pure grunge. There is a trippy live version of this song.
This song is good for work. Like it.
I really like this song. Didn’t expect the brass. It reminds me of songs by Ryokuoushoku Shakai, another great pop rock Japanese band.
I have to say I enjoyed this much more than Terra Boy, which I liked a lot. Where Terra Boy was fun, poppy, and full of earworms, this feels more "mature" and full. Maybe it's the brass. Looking forward to the final song and EP release in March!

The bass lines in Scandal's songs are amazing.
I can understand your concerns about auto-tune.
But in their songs, I feel that they use auto-tune not as a "fix" or a "trick", but as a tool to enhance their expression.
I think it's similar to how women wear makeup while men usually don’t-it’s not about hiding flaws, but about enhancing beauty.
However, at their live shows, you can hear Haruna’s natural voice (though some effects are used during the performance).
If you want to experience their "makeup-free" sound, the best way is to go to their live shows.
And after hearing them perform live, some guys might go, "See? They sound better without the makeup."
Well… that’s just how they are.
@@ST-j606 I totally get your point and I don't even believe they need auto-tune for any 'fixes'. There are a lot of groups using it for stylistic reasons.
The Makeup comparison is funny to me though, because I feel exactely the same way about that.
The more makeup a woman puts on, the less I can see her real face and the more she just looks like every other woman with makeup to me. And if they overdo it, it just looks ugly and unnatural 😅
Simply put, I prefer raw&imperfect, but I guess that's a matter of taste 😉

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of auto-tune either.
Maybe SCANDAL themselves see their live performances and MVs as two different things.
Also, from a slightly different perspective, it’s funny how no one ever tells metal bands to 'play acoustic guitars instead of electric.'
Everyone has their own taste, and that’s totally fine.
You'll find a different groove in each album, can't find a more varied catalogue in any current band anywhere i think

Can't say I noticed any artificial qualities to Haruna's vocals, but maybe I'm just accustomed to the Scandal sound
@@teuchterloon9130 It's okay here, but in Terra Boy the Auto-tune is too much for my taste.
@react-o-mat Scandal do use a LOT of auto tune in some of their songs. They even use it live
@@teuchterloon9130I've only heard 'Honey' so far which is pretty raw in sound, but apparently their albums are quite diverse so I probably should check out some more 😉
