I wondered the same thing. I was told he was annoying because of how much he 'panders' his guests and also because of his 'fake laugh'. Personally, I thought Jimmy was being genuine, but to each their own. When watching him now, I kinda get it.
Now, I think one of the best talk shows is The Graham Norton show, if you haven't seen it, definitely check out some clips on youtube. The guy is great.
