It's such a shame that AUs are at that age where all the neglected ones are dropping like flies. It seems like most AUs that didn't spend most of their life under at least a car port are just plagued with rust. I really want a new AU for a project build soon but I'm going to be super picky about the condition of the chassis and how it's been treated in general for this reason.
Yeah it’s definitely a shame I wish I could save them all but it just doesn’t work that way unfortunately, I’d definitely recommend getting a project au
Yeah just picked up a perfect au from a grandma no rust spent it’s whole life in a shed 135k I did spend 3k on it so a bit of a rought but couldn’t help myself too hard to find a perfect one
@@Jessiemuggleton yeah brutal bro good buy though can’t complain for what you spent as you know from scouring market place ahaha definitely one of my dream cars saving up for a decent manual au Ute atm.
Venom Red AU ll XR8 220 kw with the Hand Built at Tickford, last of the pushrod V8 Windsors ! Bought April '21 with 9 owners and 316,000 k's. Goes hard, but somtimes has a weird stumble at light throttle. I'm poor, so it mainly drives to the gas station and back. Paid $8,400 NZD. Does see redline every now and then !! 😊
Yeah got it for a absolute deal, I really do wish I could have done something with the car but oh well you can’t save them all unfortunately but atleast it’s parts have helped other cars stay on the road
@alexmuggleton fibre filling isnt dodgy not as bad as just usin body filler, id fibre fill the small minor holes and cut out and weld the bad rust. Pretty simple just time consuming
@alexmuggleton sounds like it woulda been ideal for a retired panel beater with a love for xr8s that had the time and wanted to fix it.. atleast it helped other cars survive I guess
@@lukeyandrew2348 yeah well either way was just too much work would have been better off buying a mint one, this one was full of rust crash damage front and back rear quarters full of bog and the car was defected so doesn’t really get much worse than that 😂 but yeah helped other cars live on

Probably best to move that car on to someone who has the passion for owning it; your point of view is valid but the parting it out view is premature, seems to be a young fella thing to do when all is to hard
The car is way to far gone it’s not worth fixing, as I’ve said it’s full of rust absolutely everywhere more than what I’ve shown, the car has been in 2 accidents front and rear witch would be a massive job to repair and the car is defected, it doesn’t get much worse than that mate, there’s others out there that are worth fixing and making the decision to part this car out is the best thing to do as it’ll help other cars live on that aren’t as rooted as this car and as unsafe as this car, it’s got nothing to do with age I’m 20 year old an yes that’s not that old obviously however I’m not young and dumb I’ve spent a lot of time around older experienced people that know what there doing when it comes to body work rust ect, and anyone would say it’s not worth fixing because there’s nothing left to fix as it’s all either rusted out or damaged. Oh and also I’ve tried letting people offer me money for the car but no one wanted to pay what it worth people offered bugger all so that’s on them 🤷 not my problem I’m not gonna sell it for less than I can get for parting out that’d be silly 🤦🏻🤣
@@Jessiemuggleton Damn right. It's the smart thing to do, and it's obviously not your first rodeo with AUs. Here's hoping you make some decent coin out of it.
@@Flanklin. it’s way to far gone to be repaired, it’s full of rust much more than what I showed and the car has been rear ended and it’s defected, if I was to fix it there wouldn’t much left of a genuine xr8 so yeah it’d be absolutely stupid to fix it when you could just go buy a different one that’s not rooted 🤦🏻🤣🤣
The XR8 option 20 is a great score👍 but too bad it needs a lot of work, I've owned 4 AU Falcons 2 were XRs 1 was almost new and they're my favourite ford, the best 1 I've owned was a mint condition AU series 3 forte the same colour as your grey AU but with a TS50 full bodykit & same Tickford rims on the option 20 then swapped with FPV Typhoon 19 inch rims(damm I miss that car😭 the front bumper is only reason I bought it) lol
