Welcome aboard! I'm trying my best to get to the gist of it and not too deep into the technical details, so people can understand why I'm drawing hundreds of lines between some points.
Genuis, but here's two ideas for you... 1) A grid of logic gates is basically an FPGA. 2) you can generate the xml of a creation directly. I can't be bothered to put this into action. but you seem to have lots of time on your hands
I managed to get a score of 7 without moving simply by spamming the fire button. Seriously very impressive. I had a lovely time sight seeing inside the machine attempting to understand any piece of the code.
If I had more time, I would have included a high score system. I always had to wrap my head around how it worked too. It works and that is all that matters. Maybe one day I will attempt to build an ALU or even CPU.
I would love to hear their thoughts on the arcade machine! It has been sitting at the top of the most popular section in the workshop for quite a while.
The more of your videos I watch ...the more I believe you are insane :D SO many hours. I feel your pain. Another amazing creation and hilarious video to accompany it. Amazing work yet again!
I guess your right. I've been doing nothing else than editing my next video for a week, but it's going to be so awesome, it's definitely worth all the effort.
Thanks! That would be awesome! I do have quality, but those bigger TH-camrs don't often bother with the small ones, but go ahead! If you succeed, then I owe you something:)
I discovered your creation a while ago, me and my friend like to play around with this contraption by spawning bots inside the machine. As you play, the game becomes more and more unstable and glitchy.
This is really good. I would sub again if I could. I love the dedication to a project like this. I have been wanting to do something like this but all I have made is some clocks lol. Care to work with me some time on building another game? I can chat on discord if so
Thanks a lot, Germinight! Yeah, I've wanted to build a game for more than 2 and half years! Sure I would love to work with you. A logic game would be a lot of work, though. I'm sure we can find something. I'll message you on Discord.
Hi. I'm currently working on a game console with different games you can play. And, it uses cartridges to program it. It's essentially a mini computer..
The thing with a console is that you would need a programmable computer inside. Apart from the fact that it's super difficult to build, it would be slow af. Each logic gate has a delay of 25ms. So if in the end your signal has to go from button press to display output it could take hundreds of milliseconds. And if your CPU & GPU are really capable, it would be more like seconds. With that kind of delay, all action games are completely out of the water. The best you could do would probably be a tic tac toe simulation.
@@Dr-Pixel I know. I'm just trying to get a basic programmable system in place, then try to make it as fast as possible. (Which, as you said, isn't that fast.) Also, this only has a 7 by 7 display, so it's faster. Plus, I probably have more experience than you with building computers.. I've built computers in games like SM before, although I haven't done it in SM.
@@nikkiofthevalley Well, maybe there's a way to 'overclock' the game to run faster than 40 ticks per second. I don't have much experience with actually building computers, but I know how it works in theory. I was thinking of maybe doing a video where I build a working computer in SM. But I wouldn't want to do it without help, as my inexperience makes my circuits slow, and logic gates are already slow.
@@Dr-Pixel Huh. I might be able to point you in the right direction. What do you mean, in theory? Do you nean you understand the basic components, or you know how it works, but have no idea how to actually build one in practice?
@@nikkiofthevalley Well, I think I would need someone to help me make things not overly complicated and therefore slow. Well, I know how a CPU works and should be able to get one to work. I just need to build all of these things in SM, and I'm not sure if I would build it the most efficient way. Well, and I don't know how to build a GPU.
