    For the record, the "textureless guardians" are used as reference to give the artists the right sense of scale to attribute to the surrounding and not create a surrounding that's way too large or too small for the player to actually walk around in.

      There is more to that - They use different colours to signify certain things, I think the primed model is for referance, but the red one is for player spawns. This was the case for "The Infested" strike I believe

      burtusmc that was on Io in Arrivals, it was the last story mission and something of a prelude to Beyond Light. These models in the Dark Forest were most likely used in Season of Risen to scale the reused environments, though I'm not sure why Quarantine Sector wasn't used. There are several instances of Quarantine Sector, none of which players were meant to see, so maybe the one mentioned here was only being used as a test

    There's a pretty interesting OOB glitch you can do in this seasons Sever activities, which is completely out in the open. In both of them with Caiatl, there's the room with Ghaul's hammers of proving, and in the back right corner there's just a hole between a few textures you can just fall down in.
    You can walk around down there and even get back into the map once you're done looking around. It's a really interesting place because there's a lot of floating Egregore stuff and some weird floating rooms too. I noticed it my first time on the mission, but I don't think it's very well known, being a new mission and a bit obscure to get to.

    I had never known this structure had existed until now and I've played the game since the beginning, learning about this is super fascinating, and I'm really curious what the purpose of it might have been. The architecture reminds me of something you'd see in the Dreaming City or maybe Eternity, and the galaxy in the background makes me think of the area where you would meet with Mara Sov in the Oracle Engine. I wonder if we'll ever see an answer for this, since it's been here since the earliest days of the game, personally I'm hoping we will.

    Theory: the galaxy pool was meant to be a place where the player could witness the Black Fleet activating, but it was scrapped and buried for a cutscene instead.
    Now, it could be used for many things, but I think Samuel put it best: A Throne World for our Guardian. Once more, I believe this Throne World could be upgraded to have all the amenities of the Tower through glimmer, shards and a ton of killing since Throne World's grow through combat.

    • @XogoWasTaken
      @XogoWasTaken 2 ปีที่แล้ว +48

      Oh, it being us seeing the pyramids waking up is a good shout - that explains the galaxy in the skybox. I was thinking it might be a scrapped earlier version of the mission where we get our light back.
      I'm still left to question why that's the platform we land on, though. Angular white stone with broken chunks and a shallow pool like that is Nine architecture, and I have no idea why the traveler would take us there. Maybe one of the Nine was going to bait us in to show us?

    • @arthurcalciolari9351
      @arthurcalciolari9351 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Don't think so, by the way the game gets the player there, i think it's going to be a way to commune with the traveller in lightfall (or future expansions). Maybe a way for the traveller to explain his motives to us. (or just a simple vision idk)
      Maybe the solar system is the last stand for the traveller, who knows.
      IMO it's gotta be something related to him just by taking the context in wich we get there

    There's a reason "You can go there" meant so much to some of us.
    That feeling of breaking boundaries into something new, peeking into the unknown! The freedom of exploration in a fantasy environment is absolutely magical.

      Ok I get that but obviously they didn’t want to use it and made it really inconvenient to get there for a reason and hackers and game breakers that do this kind of stuff then complain that bungie takes all the fun weapons and perks away…..maybe cause yall abuse what fun stuff they do give us, and wym “y’all are disappointed” it’s not your hardware to be disappointed in literally were never supposed to see it and before anyone wants to play the “well if they didn’t want it there why didn’t they remove it from the coding” I hope you used the same brain cells to think up a similar comment to realize that they can’t just delete chunks of data from a live game like this I solely believe they reason the devs treat us like children is cause y’all don’t know how to stfu and behave, also I’m waiting for the “I paid for this game and will play how I want” and the “well is it effecting you personally” well as you actions are causing devs to nerf and rework anything fun I’d say yes and as for that other one the fact anyone thinks like this is beyond me as this is a multi player game and one person in a community spreading shit like this is effecting the people that just wanna play the game that way of thinking is top tier entitlement

    For those wondering about old areas (like expunge) that are still in the game: D2 relies on spaghetti code, meaning that it’s much easier to add code than delete it, and an attempt to remove those areas could potentially break the game

      Which is true for MOST video games. Tons of disc-based games especially ship with a ton of beta and unused content for example. If it's not absolutely necessary, and you're on a deadline, why would you put in the effort to remove something relatively small like map data, which could hypothetically cause a bunch of other problems you have to solve and recompilation of lighting and stuff, when that time is in such high demand with other things?

      Okay time for a gamer moment:
      The maps in D2 are not, as far as I am aware, a coconut.jpg sort of reliance in the game-code lol.
      The only instance of the game crashing, or having any errors, when loaded up a deleted map is (without getting your account banned) is the Izanami forge, and you just get EC: Lynx.

    • @x9x9x9x9x9
      @x9x9x9x9x9 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The most prime example of this is the nightfall quest on Zavala that has been then for years. I can't remember if it was there at launch but I think it was. Anyways that quest has been grayed out since beyond light launched and maybe earlier. But bungie can't remove it because it will probably break every quest line tree.
      This is why the DCV is so annoying. There is soo much content sitting there that we could still technically use because its still in the game files. The whole point of the DCV was to shrink the file sizes... What would be cool is an offline solo play type deal where we could go do old content stuff that is just stored on our machines and not on bungie servers.
      But back to the code issue. this is why I really want them to make a Destiny 3. Start over fresh with new code. D2 is built on D1 code. That is why frame rate issues are a thing. Like taking more damage from random things, or jumping higher with lower fps, or getting stuck on moving objects. The game was not originally built to run at rates above 60fps. Also a D3 would bring back lots of people who played the first year or 2 of D2 and don't know the game is very different now. Hell they could just remake the game as it is right now and call it D3 and these old players would think its a new game.

    The destructible trees and guardian statues make me wanna say that this was probably a scrapped version of the mission where you get your light back, left hanging around in case they found another place to use the environment. Destructible trees are there as a cool idea that was dropped for performance or other reasons, and the statues are dead guardians that haven't been posed and are left on a default stance. In this version, we are pulled into the shard to get out powers, instead of just touching it.
    The only spanner in the works here is the place you get pulled to. With all the white, slightly damaged stone, angular architecture, and the shallow pool of water...that's a Nine structure, and I have no explanation for why you end up there.

    My jaw genuinely dropped when I saw that galaxy, bungie used to do these Easter eggs back in halo. And when I saw that galaxy, I assumed it was for the end cutscene and that you’d run into the pyramid ships. Seeing a skybox like that reminds me so much of super Mario galaxy. I game that I love for its skyboxes. Also I’m liking the music you put in this video. Especially the RC theme.

    Amazing Video :0 I know a lot of people have personal theories about what this area is, but I find it most likely that this is a prototype area for the Trials of The Nine flawless room. The shallow pool in the center feels like a good centerpiece where the loot chest would spawn. The aesthetics of the room match the Nine's exactly. The final nail in the coffin for me is the launcher that takes you to the area. One of the main features of the Trials of the Nine "lighthouse" area was a launchpad that would take you up to different islands depending on how successful your card was.

  • @samuelsalvatore4511
    @samuelsalvatore4511 2 ปีที่แล้ว +95

    you know what would be amazing? if this galaxy pool is actually our throne world.
    for many, many years now, we've met quite a lot of throne world owners, some were raid bosses, some were minor bosses, and some were the final bosses of a whole campaign, and we even befriended a throne world owner.
    now, it is safe to assume that throne worlds are heavily tied to the darkness, but with each new revelation, we begin to accept the darkness more and more as a means to an end, not something necessarily good or evil.
    so i think it makes perfect sense for our guardian to acquire its own throne world. That would also give bungie the perfect excuse to kill our ghost (which at this point is almost inevitable).

    • @icicle_ai
      @icicle_ai 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      They'd never kill ghost, unless they want to take away all light abilities, including resurrection and healing. We need them to access the light, through cooperation

    • @Phenriir
      @Phenriir 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah. Basically to justify this we have to be oozing with so much paracausality that we create our own throne world.

    • @NoVACorpsGaming

    • @OhYeah_
      @OhYeah_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well that area definitely looks like it’s in normal reality you can see the galaxy. It would have to be in the ascendant plane for it to be a throne world.
      Also I doubt our ghost will die anytime soon. We can still use darkness without our ghost but we still need it for the light.

    I love going out of bounds to see how maps are built, see areas we're not supposed to get to yet (like the Clovis AI before that part of the story was unlocked), or skip sections of difficult content. I don't go this crazy with it, though it would be pretty cool to get to the Galaxy Pool and get a screenshot of it.
    For some reason, one of the big doors in the Leviathan (where you fight the "clashing swords" special spawn) didn't render so I was able to just walk right through it and explore outside the map. There's some random terminals and hallways that you can't access at any point, fully rendered for some reason. That's the stuff I like finding.

I love the game and half thousands of hours in it but you know. Why worry about going out of bounds when you can actually do the game. That said there is a joy to kind of breaking something that I do understand.
