    I've owned Hondas almost my entire married life which is just over forty years at this point. I fell in love with them the moment my childhood buddy drove me around town in his brand new '82 Accord sedan. I couldn't believe the refinement in such a small car and the engine just purred like a kitten. I just had to have one and three years later I bought a new Civic sedan which I owned for three years before I traded it in for an '88 Accord LX sedan. I loved that Accord and I owned it for 14 years before we sold it to one of my wife's co-workers. I've been driving my '98 CRV from the moment I drove it off the dealer's lot in March of that year. Every knowledgeable owner of a first generation CRV knows those little suckers are reliable as hell if maintained properly...and a big part of that is making sure the valve clearance is checked/adjusted every 40k-50k miles. Case in point: Mine still has the original fuel pump and the original starter finally died several years ago. Did I mention it has nearly 302K miles on it currently? I loved this series as those 2nd gen Accords occupy a special place in my heart. Thanks, guys!

    Another nice video, thanks for that and for keeping the Accord alive.
    I usually watch TH-cam on my TV not being signed in (kiddo messes up my recommendations) but for some odd reason your videos are never recommended even though I regularly search for them while other (bigger) car TH-camrs are.
    Am subscribed, so I'm alerted to new videos on my phone but still feel you are losing out on views that way.

    • @TMPGarage
      @TMPGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      We did, it leaked because of a catastrophic failure of the head gasket. Not because it was warped.

    Well done on fixing the head gasket leak issue!!! The Weber carb install was a smart move. Do you guys have a flat bar inspection plate to check the flatness of the cylinder head and block? That would be a great inspection tool to have.

    • @TMPGarage
      @TMPGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We used a straightedge to check, probably not perfect. But I am confident that it is fixed now.

    Awesome video! I bought a 1985 Accord Hatchback from a neighbor. He bought it new and it sat in his back yard for about 15 years. A grandson and I hooked a chain to it and drug it home. I ended up installing a Weber carb also. What vacuum hose did you guys hook up to get the cruize to work?

    • @TMPGarage
      @TMPGarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! It was the only vacuum line that went to the cruise control.

      I wish I would have. Done a lot of stuff to the old girl that would have been great for youtube. Rebuilt the steering rack and couldn't find struts for it so we installed inserts into the original strut housings. Maybe I'll start videoing the rest of my progress.

I highly recommend making some videos, at the very least it will give you something to look back on, or your friends and family to watch if something happens to you, not to be too overly morbid or anything. Haha.
