Hey I'd like eto buy a bottle of brown rum soon, what would be good options? I'm looking for something pure (to drink pure), with a soft taste and like vanilla notes or caramel for example. Preferably not too expensive tho, these mount gay is 60-100euros already. I read about Kraken black rum too, more spiced but very affordable or is that not what I look for?
Eclipse is awful imho it's okay with coke as a mixer the Black barrel is a huge step up and well the XO is the difference between say a VSOP cognac and a VS, well that's my take on it, Cheers

Liked seeing you guys doing a rum episode.
Allthough I don't like alcohol that much (and don't drink on daily basis), always had a special intrest for rum, in contrary to other liquors like whiskey. Especially brown rum. Carribean rums, Barbados, Venezuela I'm really curious to taste now.

I'm thinking probably grapefruit peele rather than orange.
What expression are you having?
The tiki bar you go to in Cleveland is probably using Guyana rum mostly and some Jamaican because that is what most of the traditional tiki drinks call for. Lot of people use stuff from the Hamilton line of rums that are high proof stuff from Guyana with a touch of Worthy Park Jamaican rum. The 151 called False Idol is becoming legendary for tiki drinks and it's a newer blend Hamilton has and people are even sipping it with a little water added to it because it's such a great blend

I'm pretty sure Liquor is better without ice, especially if it's pure. Cuz ice is literally adding water to your drink, the cold taste is better for cocktails or softdrinks etc. Also if you just put it in the fridge u don't need it colder.
