Yeah I know I was looking for the previous version and I came across THIS NEW VERSION and I was like.....yeah THAT'S THE ONE I WANT NOW! so now I'm saving for that.. Bye bye life (sorry daughter you won't be able to get into college! Lol)
great review, and amazing laptop, i own one and i tell u ,it's a beast..forget the numbers and all that, it will play anything and super quiet with whisper mode on , minimum heating ,super light that you'll forget it's in your back pack ..
I remember buying my first gaming laptop, the asus g74sx, and that thing being like carrying a jetplane in my backpack lol just ordered one of these bad boys, can't wait.
It's so beautiful. The price; Asus ROG Zephyrus GX501 is priced at $2,299.00. I wish that gaming laptops were cheaper. I would love to get a powerful gaming laptop on the go. My Asus ROG G75VW is huge compared to the GX501.
Hi I am undecided between the Asus Rog Zephyrus and the Razer Blade 14' which of these two laptops have the best performance for a simulator and for work.
I have a quick question ... I noticed that asus is coming out with a newer laptop called the zephyrus m which has a 1070 card that you can turn off if your not using the video card for gaming or editing... my question is would it be better to get the zephyrus M over the zephyrus with the 1080 card.... or will the 1070 be a big down grade .... just wondering should I just go for the gusto or worry about battery life.... they are claiming the new Mseries will have 5 or more hrs of video or wed browsing with the video card (1070) turned off.... what is your opinion?
Should i go for alienware 15 or gx501 (1070 ) model When the gx501 lifts up will the gap collect dust inside it and is it comfortable with this keyboard while gaming
clocks mean nothing when it comes to the zephyrus.i own this beast for 2 years now,and its the best.no noise,no heat,u play and wonder how this is even possible..well it is.it has whisper mode,u wont hear a thing.
Good job ASUS on the laptop and I mean the laptop only. What bugs me though is the freaking adapter. They designed the gaming laptop to be so thin and portable but decided to just throw in a thick adapter which defeats the purpose of being portable especially in a backpack. I'd rather it had a larger surface but thinner or make it square even with a larger surface. But what do I know, it's a 230W power adapter. Maybe it's not possible.
what would you suggest, for photo editing, between Asus ROG Zephyrus GX501 and a MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar și Touch ID 512GB SSD, Procesor quad-core Intel Core i5 de 2,3 GHz Turbo Boost , 8gbRAM. I love the Mac but i fell it's not going to process half as fast as the Asus. thx
I bought my zephyrus off ebay from an asus authorized reseller and it has a six-core CPU which would be in a completely different league from the mac. considering I got it for €1400 its extremely good value
This is actually the first review that I watched till the end without getting irritated. i guess your calm voice, and your confidence on what you say, makes the difference compared to the other monkey reviewers. Cheers! :)
I didn't actually check the Type C for USB PD but it is unlikely. The brick is 250 watts. I haven't seen any USB-C for >100 watt laptops and I don't think USB-PD will even hit that wattage yet. I think it's called get a Honda EX1000.
Different animals really. I initially thought the GX501 made the Aero 15 irrelevant but the Aero 15 actually has decent battery life and can be used on battery. The GX501 is almost a pure gaming or plugged-in machine only with its fairly limited battery life.
You do realize it has the same amount of memory, same type of memory, same memory interface and the same CUDA core count? If they were 'failed-bin' parts, they would have CU's turned off. I'm sorry, but this is the difficulty with the Max-Q parts and the laptops they're going in to. People have a very, very difficult time grasping the concept.
This times 100. Im excited as hell about getting my hands on one, but I am also finding myself having to explain what Max-Q actually is vs what they assume it must be.
it can perform at the same level of a regular 1080 when the laptop is plugged in maxQ is just underclocking and undervolting the card during regular, non plugged in use for the maximum amount of watts/performance (there is a power curve present) to keep the laptop as thin as it is i think
DO not buy this shit, do not buy from ASUS. I m writing from an asus zephyrus right now. The screen and keyboard are not looking very good because of the heat produced. AND, search the forums, many including me, are having problems with the sound, its getting noisy while you play or listen to music. This is my 4th laptop, until this one i had other few asus rog models, and they all had problems(keyboards not working properly, not turning on after hours of use, etc)
Just realized a very scary thing, a shit new Mac book pro is 2500$. If you just add 200$ more, you can fucking get this dream laptop.
top of the line macbook is 4k now... lmao
these kind of reviews is my favorite
hyhyeahboi
ASUS Zephyrus is my spirit animal.
Asus ROG Zephyrus updated version to GX501GI EI012T now out with Intel's 8th generation "6 core" CPU, with 1080 GPU and 1TB SSD. Very nice!
Yeah I know I was looking for the previous version and I came across THIS NEW VERSION and I was like.....yeah THAT'S THE ONE I WANT NOW! so now I'm saving for that.. Bye bye life (sorry daughter you won't be able to get into college! Lol)

Just how many computers do you have? Haha! Great review, by the way!

It's cheaper now. I just bought it for my husband at Newegg for $1600.
Im planning to buy a gaming laptop between this Zephyrus GX501 with 16GB Ram and Lenovo Y540 with RTX 2060, which one do you recommend?
Temperature question - Can you game and place on your lap? Same question, but comparing to Gigabyte Aero 15x?
Hi I am undecided between the Asus Rog Zephyrus and the Razer Blade 14' which of these two laptops have the best performance for a simulator and for work.
Jose Duarte asus! I had the same deli ma! Razor should have 1070 and 144hz screen
elmin2323 well your wish became true the razer 15 has it

Nice review Gorden. Magnet for finger prints I know but how is typing experience? Mechanical click loud?
Not mechanical. It's OK. the keys are still a bit small. But quite an engineering achievement--for a limited use case.
Thanks for the reply Gordon, tk.....
Would the Aorus x5 v7 be better then the Asus Zephyrus in gaming, performance, portability, lifspan
Just to point out, it seems like in the main article, some of the images say that the gx501 has a 1060
Yeah, since fixed. Thx!

Would you guys recommend the 1080 laptop or the 20 series RTX laptops?
1080 is better than or similar to 2070 in performance. And you can get it cheaper too
1080 is better than 2070.
No, the battery life is not the worst. Mine Razer blade only got 30-40mins battery life

That's cuz the power of the gpu in the laptop NEEDS to havea lot of power... Hence the larger power brick.
Gpu integrated to motherboard or not?

Not the most powerful because the 1080 is under clocked to keep it cooler. Great looking laptop tho and good job on the video.
Chad Christian most powerful thin...THIN. lol

Is it chargable with extrenal powerpacks via thunderboult?

Battery backup..?
This guy is hammered! haha
Why so serious
its the GTX 1070 Ti
why did they call it MAX Q for?
Max quiet?
plzz do a hp omen 17inch with gtx 1060 plzz
So what do you think is better overall, Asus or the Gigabyte Aero?
Different animals really. I initially thought the GX501 made the Aero 15 irrelevant but the Aero 15 actually has decent battery life and can be used on battery. The GX501 is almost a pure gaming or plugged-in machine only with its fairly limited battery life.
15.6 inch screen is too small to game with 😖
Just connect it to a monitor..... (Bling) achievement unlocked!
gordon gives me good vibes
in a good kind of way r though....
I get so tired of hearing about 3DMark. Do you buy a laptop to run benchmarks? No.
I hate the look of this laptop, I want the blade pro
in other words the gpu 1080 ... are failed binning. They are in between 1080 or 1070
Or: They are higher-binned parts for efficiency.
MAXQ MEANS IT'S NOT A REAL ONE GTX1080 , MORE LIKE JUST ONLY APPROACH A REAL ONE GTX1070
You do realize it has the same amount of memory, same type of memory, same memory interface and the same CUDA core count? If they were 'failed-bin' parts, they would have CU's turned off. i think
UNDER 3 KG IS MORE PRACTICAL TO TRAVEL WITH
Why compare thickness with an out of date laptop vs a brand new one?
Adolf Hitler hahahah brooo they are both brand new don't be stupid
Is that the razer chroma mug in the background
Doesn't mention 1 hour battery life on 30fps until you plug in the power, also no 4k screen just saying bit behind the times
Give it to me
Please 😭😢😭😢😭😢😭😢😭
peace 66 lol you’re asking him a 2,800 $ laptop for free?

Slam that monitor even harder. Can't even handle a laptop correctly. How can I even trust your review?
Wow. Could have been the perfect laptop if not for the battery....
It looks great until you open it, and runs great until you unplug it,
Woo hoo first
1080 display for 1080 graphic card are you kidding me
Jawaid Rasool Its a gaming laptop, the refresh rate is way more important than a 4k display
Why the fuck you would want 4k on 15,6 lol
Because basicly no one buys 4K to game at 60 Hz over 120/144 Hz and the display is only 15.6” So the difference is not that noticable.
