I had a melee build amara. With the right gear, up until mayhem 6 you can one-shot pretty much anything less than a raid-boss (you need like 10 punches for those or something if I remember). Her skill tree allows for insane regen on melee and action skill, so that's just perfect.
Good luck and have fun dude, I think it's one of the most fun ways to play the game.
Asking the age-old question: Can you beat Borderlands 3 without shooting guns? Most Melee runs in BL3 use the Facepuncher or the Blade Fury since they do Melee Damage. But not me. I'm a glutton for punishment.
I’m still playing this game. Been at it since release with only really a break for Hades.
No shot Amara is maybe my favorite play through.
I regularly punch one guy and kill several guys next to him. It’s really amazingly fun and perhaps the second best melee in a borderlands game.
Melee focused Athena in TPS was also a great implementation, hard to compare.

they fixed the rough rider so it counts as depleted and full at the same time

Doesn't she have that one skill at the end that green skill tree that is like a modified melee punch? Also you can remap the controls so that right trigger or R2 is used for melee.
Yeah, I'm gonna capstone green tree. I tried unbinding my trigger, but so far I haven't messed up and shot anyone, so I think I got this.

I honestly like seeing the deaths since it reinforces that this is challenging, but you could definitely convince chat to let you turn guardian rank on. It would help a lot during those fight for your life's, but I'm not smart enough to know if that'd make the game too easy.
One fun thing to do as a melee only character is to bind your melee to your Shoot button. I play on PC so it's a bit different, but it feel like I have so much control over the actual melee swing. So it is easier to readjust your aim after you already used your Melee to hit someone with the lingering hurtbox.
This should be fun to watch because I can see a lot of deaths happening as it's k6
Idea, maybe swap the melee and shoot buttons to help avoid gunning any enemies down

I did a melee Amara built once, with the right gear you can punch with all the elements doing crazy damage.

A thing you could do that I do for melee runs is change the button input for melee and shooting so trigger is melee

Spark plug static charge, phasecast and frozen heart. Cast, slam, punch. Cast, punch, slam. Dead. Cast builds up so much groundbreaker and when you slam it procs groundbreaker and one shots most. Phasegrasp is really good for melee. Melee doesn't transfer damage thru ties but it does transfer elemental damage and she has that in her tree.
I had to use FP for ffyl and flying enemies.
Ive done ALL content in the game with that build Stone Swan has some "true" melee builds on his channel. Its possible but its tough.
Stone Swan is really good.
K6 just be glad that there's nothing in arms race that does major melee damage or else that death number would be very high

Saw you're live streaming day three already, so I'm probably late to say this, but. Solution to avoid negligent discharges, map melee to the trigger.

Rough rider should actually count as both full and depleted at the same time, as it's been seen keeping both effects active. However, it doesn't count as "active" for those effects.
So full and depleted but never active. Weird shield, great for regen- melee builds.

True melee amara is real fun.
2 or 3 fights are aweful, but its the closest I can get to Zer0 and Krieg so i will take it.
could always set the melee to your normal firing trigger that way you dont do it on accident

Couldn't figure out how to do it on Controller.
Curious to see where this goes and how you build it at end game. I tried doing this about a year ago and couldn't figure out how to get enough damage at Mayhem 11. When I tried looking up builds it was all abusing purple tree face puncher or a bugged class mod that can't drop anymore.

Unfortunately for me when you start streaming live that's when I'm doing my gaming so I can't watch your streams easily and when I do it will be my first k6 stream because I just recently got slightly better internet

Why not just go into the controller settings and remove the ability to shoot? If you can't remove it, at least put it to a button you wouldn't be using on your controller.
I tried but it makes me choose another button. It’s fine I haven’t shot yet ;)
I think shooting a gun is fine as long as it's a melee gun, it's gonna be too difficult in the upper mayhems
