@@GrinningWolfGamesThey applied the Streets of Red basic elements to the Double Dragon world, and gave it a needed overhaul. Hopefully they'll plan a sequel 😂
Update! I finally got this new entry on Switch and man I am blown away with how this good this game plays. I really felt I was playing a great Double Dragon game. The art style was something I was not won over when I first saw the gameplay footage but now after playing this game myself I am won over by the art style as well. Devs really put a lot of love for the past DD games in this new one. I also love the soundtrack of de remixes of older DD theme tracks.
Glad to see this series still alive. 1 of my favorite arcade games back in the day Double Dragon 2. Think Super or 4 was my overall favorite in series. My Dad and I beat up many a bad guys on SNES. Good times Good times.
All the nes games were good. Super double dragon was decent too. My favorite is double dragon 2 on nintendo. I think the nes trilogy was the best in the series. The double dragon fighting game on ps1 was dope too.
Double Dragon 2 (NES) and Super Double Dragon (SNES) are two of my all-time favorite Double Dragon games. The first one was good as well, but I do not remember if I like the arcade, NES, or the GBA versions over one another. All three versions were so different from each other each that the experience made those particular game unique to each other and my experiences with those games.
It’s actually midnight here soon after this dropped and I “should” be getting to sleep buuuuuuut you gents are so much fun to watch I couldn’t help tuning in before I nod off! Thanks for getting this review out so quick guys since I’m really looking forward to this one! ❤
Yeah i heard about this game and was pretty excited for it.. although the last few weeks I been hearing some negativity. Thanks for the review. I think I'm gonna go and pick this up on the weekend!
Yoooo! It's here! It's finally here. Hype! Now lets look at my wallet and see how much i have eh? Let's buy this ga.... Hhm? Nothing? There's nothing in my walleeeeet! Nuooooo!😅
@@Mr.Vetkoek lucky us! I have to save money though. My ancient potato ps4 died a few days ago. So i wont be able buy any games untill i remedy this problem. How depressing! 😣
Damn you are really rocking out one review after another at the moment 💥 I was not interested at first but now I have to say this looks quiet enjoyable! Thank you for the review!
I haven't played any Double Dragon games, but from what I've seen, this one feels like a worthy successor. And boy, is this game damn good - I was interested in this one ever since it was announced, but it completely exceeds my expectations. The amount of features they packed into this innocent looking title is just amazing considering the price tag. It puts most beat em ups to shame
Really interesting take on the platforming sections. So glad you acknowledged that these were definitely in the original NES versions and that you felt they were dated. Excited to get the cart and see for myself. I absolutely loved DD IV when played 2 players. I feel that game got a lot of negative criticism from folks that may not be familiar with how "old school" some of these retro throw back games can be and that some of us olds were stoked they didnt change it. Thank you for all your amazing content! I'm sharing the channel with any friend that will listen.
The Developer Secret Base also did the game Streets of red that has a similar mechanic related to the length of the stage and powerups. This game looks like an updated version of that game.
I'm not a huge fan of best em up games (sorry Glen!) But the figure like elements of this has me very intrigued in combination with the coop! I'm very intrigued by this one!
Pretty nice game but don’t care for the chibi art style though, a series as violent as double dragon is lol the best art was on the advance, blood flew out when you threw knives 😂
A more modern take on a nostalgic series...although I wasn't much of a Double Dragon fan back in those days, perhaps my skills were not as heightened or perhaps I just died to damn much to enjoy it.
It's certainly no River City Girls (especially compared to 2), but it's not a bad new entry. The combat animations are at odd different speeds, where you'll go from hitting fast to suddenly quite slow and the deformed heads I could do without, but overall the rest isn't bad. They did make the same mistake the first RCG made, with no online co-op. I'm seeing it get more utilized when it's a 4 player game, but rarely on the 2 player versions.
Thanks for the timely review! Double Dragon was a series that I got into on the NES and fell off with partway through the SNES' lifecycle. I've played Double Dragon I, II, and III on the NES, and then Super Double Dragon on the SNES. Of all of those, I think it's a close tie between II and Super for my favorite. I'm glad to hear that this latest entry is fun and a pretty decent package overall. One for my eShop wishlist for sure.
I want serious beat em up like final fight, steets of rage, the old double dragon... No small characters with enormous heads...not for double dragon at least..
No personal interest in this title...but I've passed your review along to my bro as he is such a fan of the series. Though the rogulike elements added to the gameplay loop is a nice touch IMO.
Did day one patch fox load times? Might wait for sale to double dip saw that it take 55 seconds to minute and half to get punching from character selection
@provisionalhypothesis as long as it's fun and feels like a better version of DD2 though. I think you'd see past that real quick. Plenty of beautiful games are not fun, and make stuff look even cooler wouldn't make me play it anymore once I realize.. "ugh :( this sucks "
This is arriving today - Jeffy B failed miserably to “deliver by 10pm” yesterday (🙄🙄🙄) I can’t wait it’s my favourite beat em up franchise as an old arcade gal 🫶
Honestly I've said this since the game was first shown and that's I wish they had the team behind river city girls do this game. I'll probably wait for a big sale before I pick this up.
Meh. U would think Double Dragon would have had better graphics than snes by now lol. They could have even gone with a SOR4 look but instead we got this. Double Dragon Neon looked better graphically. And that was ported to switch.
Mite wait for a sale. I don't like the kiddy, childish, cartoon look of the characters and graphics. The double dragons have a ridiculous look on their faces too.

It’s by the same people that made Streets of Red, which makes sense since the character design is pretty similar

I'm not normally a rogue-like fan, but I LOVE me an old-skool beatemup
I reckon if any genre would suit rogue elements, this is it... noice!

Started playing it! SO good. As a DD fan, I love the refreshing take
Ah yes, glad to have Bimmy and Jimmy back in action
Been waiting for River City Girls to go on sale again but.... This is looking pretty tempting. I'm glad beat 'em ups are back.

Maybe I missed it. Are there permanent upgrades too? Are those interesting?
Nothing was worse than the platforming segments in Double Dragon on the NES. My game overs came at that part every single time.
Man that thumb nail art looks awesome. Why couldn't that be the art used for the sprites?
Yeah i do prefer that style but it kind of works - I ended up quite liking it! Mark

They need to remaster Super Double Dragon. The best one ever!!! And that soundtrack was great!

Add Streets of Rage 4 and TMNT Shredder's Revenge to your list. They are awesome games

I like the original double dragon better, but this is okay
What is at the end of the guy with black hair’s combo? Striking with his shoulder blade???
Please review Fight n Rage. IMO it's the best scrolling beat em up but it's generally ignored.
Gonna have to get this one, always been a fan since my older brother introduced me to them
We got sequels for Streets of Rage, River City, and Double Dragon. Time for Final Fight please.
I think Billy would be great he wears red handband instead of blue

0:39 Bimmy and Jimmy Lee

Doomsday hunters, then Ember knights, now this, plus Barony in a few days some top tier rogue lights this month.

Solid month of games.
Meh. Final Vendetta och SoR4 are still by great length the top beatemups for the system.
BIMMY AND JIMMY ARE BACK
Yea I personally put it in the same convo w/ Street of Rage 4 & Shredder's Revenge
Sor4 😮
Another reviewer mentioned long load times. Is this true?
I'd get turtles over this
Good video but the intro is hard to pay attention to, with the guy narrating the trailer
can yiou turn off the special ko thing... its a bit...much? like i dont need to see that EVERY time i kill a group of enemies with a special.
I'm lovin it
Looks like crap. Really getting burned out on the cutesy art style.
Where is the online play?
None. This is a lazy cash in and they didn’t even get the art right. When you order shredders revenge from Wish
Devils Dare Deluxe?
Billy or Jimmy 😅
Nice one.
Middle finger to Rogue Like features
Nice but itz the art style that is making me not like the game. I'm old school DD art so I'll pass on this.
No mention of the insanely annoying pop-up when you do a 3X KO? It’s enough to ruin the game.
Morning 🤤
Morning mate!
there’s no online co-op. This is huge and will be the 2nd biggest factor hurting this game
Oh come on! My wallet can't take anymore abuse!
hehehe we might have another review today so you better hide lol - Mark
If the footage you're TRYING to talk over has voices in it itself, MUTE IT. Use different background audio, anything.
What is wrong with you?
Mite wait for a sale. I don't like the kiddy, childish, cartoon look of the characters and graphics. The double dragons have a ridiculous look on their faces too.
Not good enough, we have SOR4, that's the standard, this is just not even close to good enough for a franchise with the significance of DD
We get it but it's really good fun. Maybe wait for a deep sale. Mark
Instantly put off by the graphics. Much worse than the original, decades ago.
too noisy!!
