    Hey Pepe, thanks for sharing. Wish I had this video when mine fruited. I had 4 fruit and they all fell off. I wasn't expecting fruit but didn't realize they would need my help. I'll know for next time. Staying tuned for more on this.

    Thanks for the info Pete, I have a 4 yr old tree that’s about 10’ tall and it just started blooming flowers. None have formed fruit as yet and I can see more smaller blossoms coming along so I will definitely try this on future blooms. Although this was a tree from seed, I can only hope it bears good fruit.

    Cool! Looking forward to the full pollination video. I have a pair of these growing in my home here in Canada - started them from seed 2 years ago and they’re about 4 feet tall now. Not sure that they’ll ever flower, but if they do, I’ll know how to pollinate them (so thank you for sharing this)

    I have one sour sop tree with Maby 10 flowers on more poping out if you open the pedals i it is sticky why not just close it back up and tap on the flower to release the pollen?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pollen is not shed till the next day. I will try to explain it better next time. I thought I covered that pretty well.

    Eventhough the flowers are hermafrodite....selfpollination does hardly occur due to the fact that when the female part is receptive....the pollens are not ripe yet.

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cross Pollination or hand pollination gets better results. However some trees appear to be self pollinating and the pollen works fine later. The "Miami" cultivar is one example.

    Hey pepe I have a question this is the 1st year that my soursop has flowered and the flowers kept falling so I decided to hand pollinate and still I have no luck Could the reason be that this is the trees 1st year that flowers?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is possible or it may need cross pollination. Many factors are in play. Try some extra minerals like zinc and boron. You also have to be aware of the timing. Is the female receptive? Stickiness off the stigma and how fresh is the pollen? Give it another year and be careful in the winter. Best of luck.

    Hi, should I wait for nature/ants to do the job or should I do it myself?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can fertilize yourself if you like. You can also hang a piece of fruit on the branch so it attracts beetles etc.

    Can the bee pollinate it so we don't have to do the pollination?

    • @Pepesplants

      Bees do not pollinate soursop. Ants and beetles can.

      @@Pepesplants If ants or beetles can pollinate it, does it need human to do hand pollination?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hand pollination is more reliable. It has to do with the timing of the flower cycle.
