Sorry, I do not agree. That would only cause cold starts to have a valve gap/last to wide open and run terribly until it gets warm. For a GY6 or GET this seems to work best. There are other camps out there that ask you to set it, warm the motor a bit, and check it again to see how much of a change and adjust a little but this is a single-cylinder motor.
For an engine with cast-iron heads and steel valves, you can expect the lash to tighten up a couple of thousandths of an inch as it heats up-so for the cold lash you would set the valve lash a couple thousandths larger than the cam manufacturer's recommended hot lash setting
@@SmallEngineVelocity That's cool man, you don't have to agree. ..and if you wanna set them cold, that's fine. Just stating the fact that valve lash is supposed to be measured when the motor is hot. The reason is, (as you said) metal expands when it's hot, and that's when the gap will be tightest. It's done this way because you take SEVERAL variables out of the "equation" that you would encounter setting them cold. For one, the cam mfg doesn't know how "cold" your engine is, if you set it that way. IE, your lash will be looser at 30F than it will at 50, 70, 80 , 90 and so on... Once it's at operating temp, that's exactly where they're always gonna be when it's running normally. So, you don't have to "guess" how much they're going to tighten up. Another thing (especially with a "performance" build), is that valves made from different materials will expand different amounts, or if the stems are shorter/longer than stock, different diameters, etc... Just a lot of variables, that make it a "guessing game" if you set them cold. Believe me, I know exactly what you're saying, and have done it plenty of times on small engines, myself (many times using the "no feeler gauge/That feels about right!" method), but I would never tell other people who want to learn "That's how it should be done". LOL what I feel like is having a big engine placement doesn't make it fast like what I mean is I'm pretty sure I engine that's a hundred and seventy could go the exact same speed as a 93 bore and I'm pretty sure it even a 93 board what I have with a nitrous can probably could even beat it cuz most 170 CC's or 150 or normally bigger and most of the Riders are bigger as well that's a lot of extra weight most 150cc even with all the tuning most of them go I seen is like 70 or 60 I know pretty sure after I'm done tuning my bike my 93 nitrous TaoTao scooter scooter 4-stroke would reach about 80 or 90 I even put the final Gear Drive In I am tuning this baby to the max
Can't say top speed runs if your not running wot top speed is wot till she's got no more bud
Kind of a waste. You have taken a brief WOT excursion just to show top. Looks like the 171cc isn't really a worthy option for all the problems that head introduces. I just saw my first in person 171 that cracked on the lower side wall.
I'm looking for 65 cruise with brief 70mph excursions.
Don’t buy a crappy head and you are good. I’ve riding this thing from one end of Houston all the way to almost Galveston holding 65 the majority of the way. It’s been in here now for 2k miles so it works for me.
Open it up! Wtf
When I bought my Honda PCX I went full throttle on the interstate and the engine ran great. The only reason you can't go full throttle is bad manufacturing. Or piss poor builder.
Not full throttle bullshit.
Just throttle the thing 😂😂😂 wtf
Please don’t drive on the highway
I don’t. This particular video was just 2 exits to test. Haven’t ran it since
@@SmallEngineVelocity are they safe on the highways
Heck no ! Not even close! I the base ruckus was only made to go 40mph , now that it has been modified to only 30% of the original parts it’s even less safe on the freeway.
I can't seem to figure out for the life of me, you went thru all that effort of building it, making a video, only to pin it at 97%....then try to convince me you had way more throttle room to spare and was scared of the increase of speed to not complete your speed test video?!?!? 😣😣🫣
