- In this video i use the jig i made in last weeks video along with the S power to line bore the centre pivot on a Wacker Neuson mini telehandler axle.
I over bore the pivot then machine up some steel sleeves in the lathe to press fit in, standard sizes bushes are then knocked in to bring the hole back to 40mm. A new pin is also made.
Hope you enjoy the video.
Thanks for watching.
4 best channels on TH-cam: Snowball, CEE, OnFireWelding, IC Weld! Love you guys!
Agree! Plus NBSWelding.
Agreed and In my neck of the woods, Welderfabber, not many, if any as good as Baz and his team. No affiliation I may add.
@@BrasherFox Theres a lot. Just not many have TH-cam channels to show it.
You might also like inheritance machining. More of the hobby aspect rather than the production side but its still a good watch
Australia, pop in and say g’day to Kurtis, Karen and Homie. Would love a collab.
QLD in the wet.. definitely warm.
Without doubt the best state to visit though, especially the far north.
I also thought about that, but it's a very long ride!
You don’t go to Queensland in December, too hot and too many people, February and March is much better - less people, cooler and is not the tourist high season (school children have gone back to school).
Exactly what I was thinking!
Kurtis is on the Gold Coast south of Brisbane, just regular summer there
Good morning, Oliver. That job was a lot more complex than it looked. Nice work knocking that one out. That table-mount jig was brilliant. I think you'll soon be wondering how you got along without your new table. Thanks for letting us watch and see you next week. Cheers, mate.
Oliver is my “thinking out of the box problem solving hero”. Such spatial thinking is rare.
Hides nothing even his errors but more importantly his thinking as he goes along, unlike some from down under(!) no rehearsals it’s all there in real time, warts and all.
Next job, make shorter centering cones? I see Topper in Wisconsin is using Nylatron (moly filled I think) for bushing. I used it years ago on heavy duty tyre building machinery I was responsible for and it worked well, cheap, machines easy. Other engineering plastics are available!
Just as you've made a jig for line boring, CEE made a jig for external welding. Both jigs are a great idea to make jobs easier to do.
Wow... doing what everybody has been doing for decades... wow indeed...
Often Ollie, components that use a split bush like this case, there will be a small hole drilled in the bush housing area. The bush is pushed in with the split very close to the hole. In this orientation, when the bush needs to be removed, a pin punch can be driven into the bush through the hole, this deforms the bush along the split and makes them much easier to remove. Retired fitter and turner here who really enjoys your work, Cheers.
@neilcollinge871 In my 30 some years. Not once have I seen such tomfoolery. What that sounds like is setting up undetected corrosion that will end up rust jacking the bushing.
More likely you are describing a grease port that has not been fitted by a competent tuner...
Really enjoyed the two parts to this build ! Hope you have a nice holiday and tell your dad that we are all ready to stand up and be counted for our farmers this utter nonsense they are imposing on you needs to be stopped once and for all !! Respect from Scotland !
Hi Oliver from Australia, thank you for sharing another great video. I think you do exceptional work and are very talented. Really have enjoyed watching your workshop tools grow, your new bench is a game changer
You could go to Australia and meet up with Kurtis, Karen and Homey, am sure you'd have a good time. That jig set up definitely worked, it should help you with loads of stuff, all you need now is a crane to go over your table just so its easier to move stuff. 👍
Well done , thats a feat of engineering it itself just getting it set up . The new table and accessories are sure comming into there own.
Sunday morning watching in agadir this week instead of Oxford 😂
Good example of problem solving and skill. Well done.
Nice, I don't like those bushes either. Saved the man a fortune.
The jig worked out well, you can always make brackets and spacers as neccesary. Thanks for this weeks work update. Brian from South Yorkshire.
Tried to watch this earlier today but work got in the way. Now I get to watch Ollie fix it.
Unfortunate that things didn't go exactly to plan with the clamp slipping, but you got around the problem and the repair was completed and all good in the end.
Hey Oliver. Next time you could flip the axle over to clamp down on the milled surfaces that were on the top side of the axle. Probably have to put a plug in the axle breather though.
Excellent use of the eye bolt and mole grips when welding up the pin Ollie.
The line boring jig was a masterpiece in design and will be another useful tool in your workshop.
I hear that Skegness is quite bracing at this time of year!
You are a genius working that out Oliver, doing great. 👍👍. Love watching your work
Great save! I dont like those split bushes either but you have to work with what you got!
Another brilliant video Ollie, thanks!
Phil
You’re the master of invention. Great job. Definitely Australia. As someone has said CEE visit would be a must for you. Give Kurtis a call. 👏👏🇦🇺
Morning Oliver. Funny thing, Curtis (CEE) made a fixture to hold his line borer vertically on his fixture table and you had done the same last week
Great minds think alike.
I enjoy the videos. Keep up the good work.
Cheers
David
Another great video. It did fight you a wee bit but you showed it who’s boss. If it was easy everybody would be doing it. Have a great holiday and enjoy. You deserve it. Good luck from Scotland
Didn’t get to see this Sundays video till Monday night, always a pleasure to watch, as for vacations I would recommend Boracay Philippines, Crystal clear water and beautiful white sandy beaches and some of the most strangest things that you will never see in the U.K.
My Sunday coffee and Snowball video. Think it's time for a crane, to save your back and time lol. Faro in Portugal is a lovely chilled destination.
Oliver. Holiday recommendations New Zealand😍😍😍, I went over to the North Island in January this year for a month. Absolutely the best holiday I have ever had, gets away from the miserable winter weather here to the height of their summer. The 4 weeks I was there it was between 27 & 31 degrees centigrade 😎. Stunningly beautiful place and the people are the nicest folk you could ever wish to meet. I’m planning to return their for another 4 weeks in Jan-feb 2025.👍🏴
Another great repair Oliver. I look forward to sunday mornings to see what you have next. One thing that might make installing those sleeves easier is to machine the OD of the first few mm of the sleeve down to the same ID as the bore. That way it sits in there square on its own at the start. I learned that from Abom79 and it makes this sort of thing much easier. Thanks for sharing this job!
Oliver, the fixture is a success. Well thought out. Perhaps some large v-blocks to hold axles if you have a third surface to Square off of. Great work, thanks for sharing. Here in Texas USA, we're still getting in the 80's f. Enjoy some vacation time
Australia is pretty warm at the moment. 🤠
Depends on how long you want to spend sitting on a plane.
Nice job on the jig and axel. Must be hard for the farmer to pick when the bearings are done and change them.
Almost worth changing them after a set number of hours as periodic maintenance.
Make support brackets that bolt to the prop flange and the half tube bolt faces in cases where you have to machine axle tubes or diff banjo's. It all turns out in the end, but it's extra work you didn't need. Aye, and check frequently! Vibration can be a right bugger 😉 👍
Good morning Oli. Thanks for bringing us along. Take care & stay safe.
Fun to follow you and get tips to use in my own workshop! For holiday, I love Chania in Crete island.
Bang on, Mr Snowball! What a set-up, but it takes what it takes... Good job. Thanks!
Ollie, your other viewers have already said it all, so I will just say ditto! You and Kurtis creating jigs for line boring in the same week! Great stuff. Love the way you use all the new kit to your advantage. Warmest regards from freezing cold Germany.
Best short-haul destination for warmth & sunshine at this time of year is the Canary Islands. Wherever you go, enjoy a well-deserved break.
Thanks for filming and bringing us along. Good set up you have there, very well done!
York is as good as anywhere, good pubs, good walk around the Roman walls and the Railway Museum for a good day out. Need I tell a Yorkshire man of those splendid facilities and no need for a Passport. Not much sea and sand though but plenty of meandering streets and river walks. I do like how it is with your jobs Oliver, no BS just as it is, nice one.
I really thought the casing was going to crack, especially while you were knocking in the second sleeve. Glad it didn't!
Iam thinking this project took a lot hours planning. You got some good setup equipment for next job. Hope customer sends you another so you can recoup your cost. Great video.
As usual, great ingenuity.
down-under is warm...just have to dodge the drop-kicks lighting fires. top work Snow
Nicely done. The jig fixture is a definite step in the right direction, very versatile. See you next week, take care, be well 👍
First class workmanship well done nothing gets the better of you
Great job.Whitby is nice this time of year!
Yeah but it's not that warm
Snowball, great stuff. Malaysia is a nice warm place, good food too.
Greetings Oliver from the oldest town in Texas, USA, Nacogdoches. Nice work.
Holiday recommendation, Tasmania Australia, you would love it Oliver 😎
Another good job well done the bushes fitted nice n snug perfect job thks for the content good excuse for a cupa tea lol lol I'd like to say canada but not this time of the year Cyprus is quite nice lol 🇬🇧🇨🇦
Great job 👍 as for vacation advice best bang for the money is a cruise ship with air fair included if your so inclined. Thanks ever so much from old New Orleans 😇
Well done that job went well thanks.
Looks like a great solution to difficult to bore problem. Designing a good system to hold the part will be your next challenge. You definitely need to ditch the screw clamps and come up with a bolt down solution. Perhaps a plate with T-Slots that you can bolt down to the table. I am anxious to see what you come up with, but it may be quite some time until you need to bore such a part again. That will give you time to design a good system. Great job! Regards.
like your work. many steps 2 think about 2 get a good end result.. but u get there.. use a stick 2 catch the material on the lathe.. soo it does not get damaged..
I’ve just watched Alisterarc replacing bushes using liquid Nitrogen. looked like a good way of doing it
It came up a fantastic job in the end after a bump half way through the job nice on buddy.
About holidays why not visit Madeira Island Portugal is my birth home, there is parties every weekend and lots to see and do, if you Gidding I can recommend my brother he works with tourism all over the Island and he cand recommend nice places so you can enjoy your holidays.
Wat ever decide to spend your holidays do me a favour just enjoy your holidays you deserve it.
Went to Madeira for honeymoon - forty-odd years ago.
Dunno what' it's like now - I haven't been back since - but it was warm and attractive, then.
Now you've reminded me, I better think of summat for the next anniversary - coming up in a couple of weeks.
@oldcynic6964
It a.lot better now the Airport is twice bigger and lots of improvements is a maind boiling the transformation is epic.
Wonderful I am happy to here that and a big thank you for visiting my home.
The last time I I've been to Madeira was in 2022 next time I will go back will be just after Christmas and New Year it will be epic looking forward to go home to my Madeira Island.
Key West , Florida!
It’s nice n warm plus lots to see and do
It worked out very well I hope this fix gets the lubricantion it requires? I suspect this handler is used above its capacity as the axel looks to be quite new . Well done!
Love my Sunday Morning watching You do really good work
Oliver, how about a pair of big Vee blocks to down the work piece. Drill and tap a couple holes and use the hold down clamps you use on the milling machine. I vote for Australia. If not that far, we had a great time in Lisbon a few weeks ago.
I think a handful of machinist jacks would help ALOT, be able to replace the 80mm box tube with a jack you can adjust to hold odd shapes up would be good
Very very awesome on the linebore and restore of that axle..very awesome!
Keep em coming!!!!
I just got back from my home town in Florida after 3 weeks... November is the best time of year normally. Not too hot an not at all cold. Much better than the northern European weather... Today is pretty shit weather out of the north.
I would have loved to show you around there! It's crazy how much it's grown there!
No no come to East coast Canada, glad to have ya.
Great job Oliver. Probably better than new and you’re all set up for the next one now. 👍🏻 Peace from the states! 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Extremely good 👍 work 👏
Great job Ollie, just a thought but maybe some large V blocks for sitting things like axles on and large U clamps to hold it down utilizing the holes in the fixture table, anyway another excellent Sunday video
Oh and Thailand 🇹🇭 for a holiday mate, sunny and warm
Thanks for the video
Hi, to avoid dropping the piece when you part off, put a 6mm rod in the chuck and let it drop on that, love your vids

Oliver, congratulations on passing 50k subscribers.
Ever thought about using air chisel for knocking bushes out?......worked for me a few times (slightly modified chisel).....saves all that hammering
Yes, I need to get myself a decent air chisel
I was just thinking about the way you had to clump that axle (4:24) due to the only machined surface being on the top of the axle. The problem with the way you had to use the 2 square supports is that without anything on the other side, you'll have the weight of the axle leveraging them out of square. If you had another 4 of those huge 90° squares (2 for each end), you could install one on each side of the axle with a support spanning between them. You can then lift the axle and clamp or bolt it directly to that support and be confident that the part is now held perfectly parallel to your line boring jig. You could then gently add some packing (finishing with some wooden wedges or some fibreglass felling wedges as they will conform to the shape of the axle quite nicely) underneath the axle in case something slips and tries to drop the axle back onto the bench. That packing would also help to dampen any vibrations you may be getting during the line boring operations.
Cracking vid Wallis
Love your problem solving.
Olie I've just come back morroco, hot and lovely place m8, really reasonable too,
Jig worked an absolute treat made job easier for you
Greeting from Ubon Ratchatani, Thailand. Enjoyable video for a Sunday afternoon.
Awesome video, great work. Thank you Oliver
Tenerife, spot on.
Good job! I like that you have continuity in your filming! And you probably have a good reason to press in cold but you can put the part in the freezer and warm the outside ( make my life so much easier I fit brass parts to marine engines and prop shafts) got to be done quickly 🥴
Now you have your passport try Cornwall 😀 👍 farmer’s boy Cornwall
That horizontal line boring jig worked really well.
The person who invents a MIG welder that doesn't chuck spatter all over the place will make themselves a fortune. I wonder what weight of the wire used ends up on the bench or floor rather than in the weld?
Pulse mig is supposed to be a lot less splatter. I’m wanting for tecarc to develop their pulse mig then I’ll get one.
@snowballengineering Be very interesting to see how well it works.
Better than new and the new jig is just the ticket.
Your forklift's front right tire is at the end of it's life span.
And as always, good job, well done!
Great video. If you chamfer the end of your sleeve a bit, it makes it easier to start the insertion.
Dominican Republic here, Sosua and we would definitely sort you out a good accommodation deal. Lots of English people live here and we have some beautiful beaches.
Another good one persistent works every time
from Canada, that lay-up table is the best I have ever seen, thanks for showing the setup to me........beats the one I had to work on............cheers
Another good job Ollie 👏 and it looks like you've had a tidy up ? Nice one 👍
MM77 Approved 👍🏼 👍🏼
Great video, make ya up a set of u-bolts and flat plate to bolt things to your table, very stable and rigged..
Love that pull through jack
Part two of another Snowballgenious job
Nice work. You had me worried for a bit when the axle moved. I like the jig.
Brilliant 😊
Another good one. Thanks Olly
Happy days Oliver mate, another job well done, jig will definitely evolve over time as needs be, thanks for sharing, have a great one 👍
You might need an inverted U shaped bracket so that you can bolt the housing to it and then secure the bracket to the table. An additional L bracket on the end would make the housing very rigid so it could not move.
Looks like it's turned cold over there in the UK again. It's pretty hot here in Australia now.
As always, great video!
Tsilivi Zakynthos I’ll be out there end of May to June great place to holiday mate
Great rig, that setup will serve you well Olly. Maybe consider getting a borescope so that you can peek down hard to reach places. As for warm holidays, you can't beat Aus mate, come on down! 🍺🏖🦘
“Frankenclamp” 🧟♂️ 😂 Incredible the lengths you have to go to when you can’t fix to the actual part! Amazing job, a problem overcome in the usual professional methodical well thought out manner. Keep up the good work, look forward to your content every week. Kind regards- Michael Leicester.
Thanks for another great vid Ollie, much appreciated 👍.
