    I grew up near this location.
    That long line of cars at the end, I'm in one of those cars with my dad

    Well...sorry to see you had to repost this after so long...but the silver lining is that it is a great tribute to James Earl Jones...since he passed away recently....may he RIP. 👍

    RIP James Earl Jones and Ray Liotta. Also, James Horner's score for this movir is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.

    Anyone who can watch this without choking up a little towards the end, has to have been through some *really* nasty stuff. And/or has some serious issues.

    Check out the 1988 movie, "Eight Men Out" that chronicles the true story of the 1919 Chicago White Sox scandal.

    Another baseball movie starring Kevin Costner is “For Love Of The Game” and you will definitely enjoy it as baseball fans. And don’t forget “The Rookie” with Dennis Quaid as Jim Morris. High school BB coach to major league pitcher.

    So many wants to figure out how they are able to do all of this, and in truth I don't think there's any real explanation for it. So don't bother trying to figure it out just sit back and enjoy it.

    This movie helped to shape my young imagination and was one of the first movies that brought me to tears. I watched this film with my father who recently passed away and I would give ANYTHING to have one more catch. Great reaction.. genuine as always.

    If you haven't watched it yet, check out 61* . Directed by Billy Crystal, it's about Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris trying to break Babe Ruth's home run record in 1961...

    I played catch with my Dad a lot. I love baseball and I could never play because I am a female. I hate softball. I played sandlot with the boys in the neighborhood and I was chosen first because I got my growth spurt before the boys and I could hit, throw, run better than them until their bodies caught up. I watched Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays play in spring training and Mickey in NYC. I dragged my Dad to spring training later to see Pops Willie Stargell.
    Moonlight was a real player but in 1905 not 1922 like in the movie

    Just one little footnote. If u recall, Terrance Manns father listed him missing after repeated phone calls. That because Mann had passed away, and he was a spirit like the players, so thats why he was invited out with the players.

    I've watched a lot of Field of Dreams reactions, because it's a great movie. But I have to admit, seeing this one, and trying to watch it, I have to keep saying "Wait a minute ... the reaction bits are sounds awfully familiar." Early on I reached the point I'm not surprised to learn this is a re-up. 'Cause I've watched you watch this before. How long ago was the original upload?

    • @DisneyBatchman
      @DisneyBatchman 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      And even more the second time I sticks out when one of you says "Well this was back in the 60s." No, this took place in the 80s. Though at one point they warped back into 72.

    The 2nd mistake…probably, is after the practice when the in-laws come for dinner..and one of the players mocks The Wizard of Oz…I don’t know when these players died..they got banned for throwing the 1919..World Series..after some,kind of trial or hears Judge MountainmLandis banned them for life..but the Wizard came out in 1939…and what I said about the lights? The last team got lights installed halfway into the 1988 season…a year after the movie’s release…

  • @carlchiles1047
    @carlchiles1047 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Just noticed the first mistake they made…THE LIGHTS..when the voice says it again…closer to the house. A baseball field with lights appears…when Joe Jackson and the other 7 were kicked out of baseball by Judge Landis..they didn’t play under lights…and when Shoeless first appears he says…what’s with the lights…he would not know that every team plays under lights for,night games…

  • @carlchiles1047
    @carlchiles1047 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    For me, it was the song…Cat’s in the Cradle….my dad was always working…so it was just the kids playing..my brother was 4 1/2 years older…and sister were younger..so, I never had a catch with dad..he wasn’t that kind…

    Doc Graham was a real person from Chisholm, MN that played one game in the majors then became a doctor. The people in the movie that James Earl Jones interview are actual residents that knew Doc Graham including the lady that wrote the obituary.

    Moonlight Graham was real. If you look on MLB records, he appears as having played one game and never getting to bat.

    Tell your clueless friend, that not having certain books in schools isn't "banning". It's having age appropriate material in the school system. Porn for instance. You can still get the books, they are not burned. This is why critical thinking is important.

    • @Reclining_Spuds
      @Reclining_Spuds 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Indeed! That fact flies over many reactors' heads.

    • @jimmiller8687
      @jimmiller8687 วันที่ผ่านมา

      But, the problem is so many complaints, or ideas of whats appropraie are incredibly subjective. Its also not really pertinent to the discussion in the movie. They were essentially trying to ban "To Kill a Mockingbird", or "Catcher in the Rye". They werent talking about banning pornography, except for the jamoke in the audience who tried to claim Mann's book was pornography, or ,god forbid, communism, which he probably cant even define. No one serious wants pornography in schools. The problem is defining pornography, and who gets to define it. TLDR version, the people at the meeting were, in fact, trying to ban a book from the school curriculum.
