    I bought a 2022 and now am on a 2024 PA Special.
    Why?
    I like it .
    I love it.
    Its a great bike.
Fuel pump on the 22 only issue.
    Replaced by my dealer expeditiously.
I have had Harleys and Japanese and Euro bikes down thru the years loved them all.
As far as reliability that is direcctly related to maintenance.
Some machines require more than others.
Bottom line is own and ride what gives you joy and satisfaction.
Not what someone else thinks that you should be riding.
I always compliment other riders bikes no matter what.
I know that they feel about their bike the same as I feel about mine.

The fact that you would upgrade to the same model, only 2 years newer, really says something. The Pan America is really special for you.
It's weird, you ride a certain brand, it's always assumed you hate others. It's also a personal assault, "You hate me for my Japanese bike" Or that you've never ridden or owned any other brands. I think it's due to some sort of yearning for tribalism. Like when people fight each other over sports teams. Thank you for watching!

I wanted the PA from the first time I saw one. Finally bought my '23 because the price was right. I wanted the Gray Haze color so badly that no other bike or color would do. Got exactly what I wanted - including the spoked wheels (love the 'Harley Davidson' etched in them - awesome!) - for $20k plus the other title/doc fees/etc. It's exactly what I wanted and I make no excuses or apologies for it! I ride the hell out of it and love it! FTR I looked at 'other' bikes while I was waiting to find my price - the Triumph Tiger, the Tenere, the Honda Africa Twin, etc. - and while I liked them the prices on them were 75% of what I was going to pay for the PA. Not to mention, like you - dealers for those brands were not exactly close, either - that did factor. Again, bottom line I'm glad I didn't compromise or settle and I got exactly what I wanted - and I'd do it again! Peace!

Strangely enough, I wasn't totally into the looks at first but I did like it better than the beaked ADVs. It's the test ride that convinced me. That's why I tell everyone to just hit up the dealer for a test ride. If anything will make up your mind, it's a test ride. Like you, I looked at other bikes. The Africa Twin was heavily considered, but I kept thinking about the Pan Am. It was always on my mind. Like you, I waited. One day I lucked out and was able to hop on a great deal like you did. I've been happy ever since. Thank you for watching!

Ride what makes you happy. As a rider of Japanese bikes most of my life, and now a Triumph I have had dozens of people ask me when I am gonna get "a real bike", meaning a Harley. About 20 years ago, I stopped trying to be nice to or educate hostile people who were not paying for my bike. Now I just tell them, "motorcycles are like women, I ride the ones I like. Shit talking my bike is like shit talking my woman. You ready to do that?" Then I tell them I wouldn't shit talk thier bike or wife. They usually shut up after that.
The cult of Harley is strong though. I stopped on HWY 1 between Rockport & Legget CA to help a couple on a Harley fix thier bike. We are 10 miles from the nearest cell coverage/gas station/anything. I was trying to chase down what turned out to be a loose ground. After 20 minutes another Harley rolled up. They immediately turned thier backs to me and stopped talking to me, only talking to the other Harley riders. I figured out the problem & told them. They barley seemed interested so I stopped working on thier bike and left. I think that says everything about the Harley cult.

Man, that's rough. Maybe I'm just a weirdo, because at group rides I'm the guy who's looking at the non-H-D bikes that show up. I've yet to experience H-D guys giving non-HD riders crap though, I think most of that was a Boomer thing.
      Thank you for watching!

    Hi Chase,
I have a choice of dealerships for other manufacturers nearer to me than HD.
    I'm NOT American (a Brit).
    ...
We've been through 10 countries, over mixed roads and I love every ride on my PA (called Sherman), so I'm with you; I'd struggle to replace it.

That's amazing, you must really like the Pan Am to not go with the "Home Team" Triumph (something I'd never begrudge any man or woman for doing by the way)! Thank you for watching and I wish you well along with many more visits to other countries!

Just picked up my 2023 Pan Am Special with the yellow colorway! Traded in my 23 Sportster S. So far so good, break-in miles!

Welcome to the club! Was it a test ride on the Pan Am that did it? I let a friend ride mine last week, now he's thinking about trading in his Dyna on a Pan Am too. Thank you for watching and have a little fun breaking in that Pan Am!

@@Chase_N It was a couple of reasons and that was one of them! I needed a more touring oriented bike, and the Sportster S doesn't have much range, I got around 70 miles to a tank the way I ride. I also needed something that can do light off road along with my 690 Enduro R.

@@Diabeekei 70 miles is less than my usual trip into town! Even the most throttle happy hooligan should be able to double that mileage on a Pan Am.

I say get what makes you happy... I had a Road King for 19 years that I absolutely loved. It was the perfect bike for me. Great around town and great for long distance. Now I have the Pan America, that I absolutely love. It's the perfect bike for me. Now.
I'll sing praises for the Pan America all day long. But i don't tell someone else it's the bike for them. That's for them to decide...

I watch reviews on all types of bikes and brands. I stop at dealers other than H-D just to see what they have. I just like bikes. It seems everyone has an axe to grind though. H-D has now drawn the ire of many, for reasons, but one in particular which seems to have been missed by average buyer. I'll address it in a future video.
I follow people who ride Pan Ams, but I also follow people who ride Africa Twins, 1300 GSs, Even a guy who rides a CFMOTO Ibex800. I think it's just people angry who're not enjoying themselves as much as someone else. Me, I'll stay positive and if I help someone make a decision great. It just gets tiresome for someone to come and try to mess up your vibe. But hey, it's the net, I may not like it, but I must accept it. Thank you for watching!

The Harley crowd around here seem ok with the Pan America. I do not think the Sportster S or Nightster get much love. It will be interesting to see what happens when they are built over seas.

    • @Chase_N
      @Chase_N  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I still get "Is that actually a Harley?" questions. Check out Kruesi Originals for Nightster content, they're building one as we speak, er, type. I'm waiting to see what happens with the overseas production shift, I don't like it one bit. I don't think anyone does, in particular MoCo employees.
      Thank you for watching!

I was considering 24. I won't pay the Harley tax if it's not made in America.

    • @Chase_N
      @Chase_N  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@MinnowMoto Yeah, I don't think they realize how much "made in America" matters to many H-D buyers. It probably isn't a good idea to test the waters in an economy like this one but hey, some people only learn the hard way. VW is thinking about closing all of their factories in Germany too, so at least H-D isn't alone in what could likely turn out to be some quite ill conceived planning.
