Honda Forza Scooter 300 (NSS300) - How To Change Windshield/Windscreen

  • This video shows how to access the 4 screws that hold the Honda Forza (NSS300) windshield in place. I changed mine from the standard factory windshield to the taller version. I drive the Forza to work through rural roads and get up to 60 MPH, the factory windscreen doesn't deflect enough of the air at those speeds.

    I really love the look of the stock short screen but alas, no wind protection. I bought wind deflector for about $30 and used it on a short screen installed on my Burgman. During the hot Florida spring, summer, and fall, I remove the deflector and put up with the noise and buffeting. I really love your Forza videos. Very helpful.

    • @zooskifilms
      @zooskifilms  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jeffrey Hurst - This taller windshield does create a lot of buffeting for me as well, I'm around 6 feet 2 inches and can really feel that wind at the tip of my head. The air flow pattern is also not the greatest, the wind noise is more turbulent with the taller windshield vs the OEM. Makes me curious if the Givi version addresses this better than the Honda version. Anyway, thanks for watching and for the comment!

      @rolacook222 - You bet. Just one new comment: the taller windshield creates more turbulent air around the edges of the top part, so if your head/helmet is in that zone you will feel and hear it. It is the case for me and I will likely revert back to the OEM.

    Great video.
    I'm 6'4", installed Givi D1123ST from a Honda "tall", and wind noise is still killing me.
    Going to try a top deflector next.
    I wonder if it wouldn't be better with the stock stubby and good ear plugs? Any comments WELCOMED

    • @zooskifilms
      @zooskifilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @DontPanic42 - Yeah unfortunately I have the same issue. The wind is very turbulent with these taller windscreens. I need to duck down a little to get out of the stream. My other Forza in Thailand has the stock windscreen and feels much better, much less turbulent but there is a steady pressure of air when riding. With a helmet on it feels better. Just not sure how much less wind noise there is. I didn’t pay attention. Hope this helps!

    I'm considering installing a larger windscreen, yet was hoping to get some feedback. Anybody that has installed a larger windscreen, have you noticed a change in MPG or top speed?
    I saw one person commented they noticed an increase in noise.
    Not sure, but guessing the Forza is more aerodynamic with the smaller windscreen and while riding in a tucked position. But if not riding in a tucked position, I'm assuming the larger windscreen would be more aerodynamic.
    Also I'm debating between the larger Honda windscreen and the even larger Givi D1123ST.
    Any thoughts?

    • @zooskifilms
      @zooskifilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@UCm3b-noLv_QvVeM7ADAG-Ww - Thanks for the comment and question, and my apologies for the delay in responding back. I haven't noticed any change in MPG, it's about the same and I did not test the top speed with the original windshield so not able to comment on that. But I did reach 87 mph with the taller windshield, I made another video which you can find in my Honda Forza playlist I set up on my channel. Regarding noise, there is a lot of noise from both the original and taller windshield. I am 6 feet 2 inches so my head still sticks up above the taller windshield slightly, I need to tuck my head down a little to be free from that noise. Certainly the original windshield is more aerodynamic if you tuck your head down, but I can't drive that low for very long. If I could do it again I would try to find an even larger windshield to cover my head during normal driving conditions. So if the Givi D1123ST is larger/taller in that respect I would go with the Givi. Hope this helps!

    • @OkieBobby
      @OkieBobby 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zooskifilms Very helpful. For now (while its summer), I plan on sticking with the tiny stock windscreen until it bothers me more (probably then temperatures drop in the fall). Then I'll need to decide between the large Honda windshield like you installed, or the even larger Givi.

    • @zooskifilms
      @zooskifilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jason Tomica - I saw your comments on the other Forza video. I guess you mean loud as in having lots of wind noise on your microphone when you ride? I have the taller windshield because I wanted to deflect the wind from my head while riding. Actually, I still need to duck a little because I feel it on the top of my helmet.

      @problemslayer3538 - Sorry for the delay! This video has two parts, the first part is only checking the final drive level. I added fluid until it came out the overflow hole. That was not the drain hole. The second part was a complete drain and refill of fluid level. I do two parts based on the Forza maintenance schedule which states to change the fluid every two years, but I like to also check it once a year. Hope this helps!

Of course, the gas strut is also finished so I plan to replace that soon and that may contribute. I looked for some adjustment in the latch but it doesn't look like there is any wiggle room. Just got this yesterday and trying to work out the little wrinkles. :)
