  • Enjoy our live Monday Night Travel party with this video recorded on March 20, 2023.
Today's Poland has a vibrant urbanity, enticing food and design culture, and powerful history. Join guidebook author Cameron Hewitt and Kraków-based guide Tomasz Klimek as they unpack the wonders of this often misunderstood corner of Europe. We begin in postcard-perfect Kraków to enjoy one of Europe's finest squares, learn about Poland's Jewish story in the trendy Kazimierz district, and pay a visit to the notorious and powerful Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp Memorial. Then we head to the modern capital of Warsaw - with its world-class museums, lush parks, and fun foodie scene - and red-brick, gingerbread-scented Toruń before landing in the charming maritime city of Gdańsk. So, compile a plate of pierogi and prepare to be surprised by this beautiful and fascinating land. #RickSteves #MondayNightTravel

There is plenty of charming and picturesque small towns in Poland. They have quaint market squares with beautiful architecture, great restaurants and no tourist horde.

Hi, i like Rick Steves show very much! As for the bunkers in Nowa Huta - the Poles were not afraid that the Americans would bombard them. Most of us would welcome the American military on Polish soil. Many Poles attempted to escape from Poland to America. America was a symbol of freedom and prosperity for us. We were afraid of the communist Polish army and the Polish militia, they were a threat to Polish citizens. The authorities of the Soviet Union and the communist Polish authorities were afraid of war with the United States, and they decided to build bunkers.

There are many smaller cities, Poznan, Wrocław, Bialystok. Łódź is fascinating.
