I am a huge Sinatra fan and I have been singing his songs for years, privately and for money. I have always said that Sinatra is the king of phraseology, but if Sinatra was the king, he has an heir to the throne. Thanks, Mr. Elling... you brought it to another level...very inspiring!!!

This song and performance is from my favorite stage of Kurt's performance (w/ Laurence Hobgood, John Maclean, the great drummer from Jacksonville and Haresh the bass player). I still love listening to these songs over and over again. Wish that Kurt and Laurence hadn't split up, he added so much to making a brilliant backdrop and musical setting for Kurt's wonderful voice.

Their relationship lasted well beyond the normal life span of bands. But yes they had a truly symbiotic relationship and just fed off each others talents. Ernie Watts was the icing on the cake in this particularly stellar performance.

Eric Wilson The name of the tenor sax player is Ernie Watts.....great horn player. The sound here is awful....I wish somehow TH-cam could have a way to stop people from posting stuff that does not meet common standards.

Not crazy about the arrangement Ellington's vocals but Mr. Watts more than makes up for it.. They need Greg Porter.
