@@jdraver , that is really cool and reminds me of my youth. My father, brother and myself would search farms and fields to try and find American Indian artifacts in and around the state I live in. Many fond memories of Saturdays spent walking back and forth for hours looking for arrowheads, pottery, peace pipe, axe heads. I still occasionally go out on my own and search.

Now that's definitely a site crying out for some metal detecting. The fact that there's no modern rubbish lying around is fantastic, meaning what you find up there, like that water jug, has probably lain there since the area was abandoned. That round bunker with the metal base in it is more probably for a large mortar or small howitzer, used to dominate the area, especially the nearby road. The half shelters were probably ammo storage for the gun/mortar. Still amazes me to think how much undiscovered and unknown History is still out there waiting for our HH Team to discover. Well done to both of you. Cheers and Stay Safe and Well!

What a great find. The aerial photo says 3 possible positions on hill top, nothing about vertical climbing. The rest of the finds were definitely under good cover. The frame on a pivot is more then likely a search light. It only has a single bolt center and gun frames are built differently. The what was a box on the end may have been a generator. This is truly a beautiful find and needs to be documented. Hope all is well and stay safe. EE keep your father out of trouble.

that would be my guess as well, the position is to small for an 88 or a 38 AA gun, and the base is quite flimsy compared to the production mortar bases. It also appears to be more of a field expedient build rather than a production item.

Very impressive location. If that was a searchlight, how did they get it there? Isn't there a road leading up that hill, somewhere? And, consider metal detecting that area....

I wonder the same how on earth did they get that gear up there :) Thanks my friend.

Really interesting video. Wish I could join you on your trips. I was stationed in Bindlach. There was a German air base. The hangers were underground. What are the metal detecting laws in Germany? Keep up the awesome work. Thank You for your videos.

That pitcher may be something they used to serve coffee or soup to the soldiers. I’ve seen videos were a cook or his helper would go from trench to trench serving the soldiers. Always amazing locations.

Well done HH and EE. Is this find something you report to a historical society or ministry? It is good to see areas of significance in generally good order not scarred by graffiti.

What an interesting well kept secret that was until you & EE rediscovered it. Thanks for taking risks, but do be careful. We don't want any hurt butts. EE knew what to do with the steel cable as he was climbing up the hill. So much to see there. The half pipe shelters were in good shape and well constructed with enforcements strategically placed. Did you ever find out if that mount structure was for a searchlight? It did look like it was camouflaged by the looks of the surrounding metal structure/pieces. Can't wait to see P2. Hope everything turned out ok after your unsuspected call . Continue to stay safe you 2.

There appeared to be a concrete door inside one of the metal shelters on the floor, is it possible there is an underground cave system? You need to get the aerial view with great, it reduces foliage and reveals much more.
