  • In this video we are in Nevada's famous Virgin Valley. As life's adventure often go, we had our awesome plan, but couldn't do it, and found ourselves blessed and enjoying what we never expected.

That was an unexpected hounding adventure that turned out to be pretty neat in its own right. Maybe not what you expected but pretty fun anyways! It looked luke the dogs had a blast! But they always seem to find fun, where ever you go! That area sure was beautiful! And i love apache tears, and those definitely were some of the biggest ive ever seen! They were huge and awesome! Your finds turned out to be pretty cool! Thanks so much for the unexpected adventure! Hi Rusty and Ruby!

Thanks! Yes, we did enjoy this unexpected blessing, once we accepted our opal-less fate. 😉 Once we did, the rain quit, the air warmed up and we actually found these goodies. We hope to go back for opals soon.

So glad to see your posting videos again! What a wonderful trip you guys had! As always your rock dawgs had a blast. You found a great variety of materials too! Be careful with the Chrysotile asbestos, it tends to hang around in your lungs for awhile if you cut them dry. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to your future videos!

Thanks Dave! Your right, the dogs love places like this where they can hunt with us off leash, running to their heart’s content.
You’re right there about chrysotile. Researching it, I read that more deadly lung disease is attributed to prolonged airborn chrysotile exposure then any other asbestos, in large part because more of it was mined and used. I’ll just enjoy it as a specimen.

That was a fun hound trip! That area is so cool, did you end up opal hunting? We loved staying at the Peacock for the awesome showers and laundry. We had the same weather as you and came out of the mining area covered in cakebatter, lol. The surface collecting was a blast in the Sheldon zone too. There's supposed to be quite a bit of carnelian out there (we found lovely pieces) I'm wondering if that last translucent piece is maybe that? Plenty of common opal too so that wouldn't be surprising. Thanks again for bringing us along on your adventure with the pups!

Thanks Karen! We have yet to be able to return, but hope to soon and next time give the area some more time. The Royal Peacock people were very nice and their honor system was refreshing. Your dig sounds like a real adventure. Did you do a video about it?
Yes, that little piece could be carnelian. I'll have to check the hardness!

@@krawdadandrusty Agree 100% about the folks at the Peacock, they're so awesome. We went at the beginning of my foray into the channel and I ditched recording any of it because I was too excited about opal hunting and it was way too much of a mess! I'd love to go back and do a proper video. It's so lovely down there and there's so much to do! We didn't even splash in the hot springs, lol!
