    I wonder why anyone would put a thumbs down to this video. The guy is a nice guy talking about a nice guitar and doing it very nicely. Seems like some people just smash their nuts against the door every morning (as we say in Costa Rica)

    I own this guitar in red and I absolutely love it. It feels like a very high end guitar to me. The setup was okay and I had to make a few adjustments but now it plays beautifully. The neck feels thin and fast, with the exception of the back of the neck which can get sticky as mentioned in this video. I do split the coil sometimes and enjoy this beautiful guitar

    I had this guitar, I liked it. But it was a little light feeling for my taste. Also, I play in the classical position so les paul shapes don't really work for me. Great review my friend, I'm binge watching all your vids since I've found you. Our tastes are very similar. Rock on, from Australia.

    • @ToroKchannel
      @ToroKchannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure single cuts are not the best for classical position ! This little LTD has really got something I love within its tone. These LTD pickups are pretty good eventhough the note definition could be a bit better, but they have something special, kind of make me think of some passive EMGs or something.

    Nice review. The purple finish does look great, but I'm thinking about snatching up a used cherry burst 256 with an incredibly gorgeous flamed top that I recently came across online. I've got two Schecter C-1 Classics and I've been wanting to swap out the pickups in one of them. The JB / Jazz set sounds awesome, but I'd rather have one with a different sound as opposed to having them both sound identical. I figure I can use the Seymour Duncans from that Schecter to upgrade the 256 and switch up the sound on that C-1 Classic with something different. It seems like that JB set would be the perfect upgrade for the 256, although the stock pickups sound pretty decent here. I haven't settled on what I would want to use as replacements in the Schecter yet. They're offering a really nice hardshell case with that 256 as well, the only thing I'd have left to upgrade would be swapping the stock tuners out for locking tuners and possibly having a new nut installed. I'm still not sure, but it's definitely tempting. Great video, I always appreciate your insight and attention to detail.

    • @ToroKchannel
      @ToroKchannel  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks ! Those cherry burst EC 256 are not easy to find ! According to what you're gonna play a set of SD Distorsion / Jazz or Distorsion / '59 could sound pretty well in an EC 256 or a Schecter as well. But the stock pickups are really interesting, it's just a matter of taste :)

    I had the ec-1000 and it’s a great guitar. I wasn’t crazy about the XJ frets. I know a lot of guitars have them and people love them but they aren’t as good if you have a tight grip or if you like the action really low. After playing Fenders the XJ frets feel like railroad tracks

    I bought the satin black one, tore out the factory picks and threw them in the bin, they just didn’t have the definition I was looking for, I put in the Nazgul/Sentient set and it sounds absolutely amazing. Out of 14 other guitars, this one is my favorite next to my Viper 400.

      @@ToroKchannel I just received it yesterday. I'm pretty unhappy with how dull and weak it sounds which is why I'm googling now to see if others have had the same negative experience. It sounds boxy, compressed and it maxes out if I pluck the strings too hard. I have a cheap strat with single coils to compare it with and the strat sounds way better with old strings, the eclipse has brand new strings that sound great so long as I don't plug it into an amp. I should return it

      Well yes it still surprises me cos it doesn't look like a classic color shade variation due to the wood. It truly looks like they decided to change the color at some point. I got this guitar a few years back and the colour is the one shown on the ESP website, but the fretboard is the same kind of darkness as the one you have. I was under the impression I'd get the kind of purple you got when I ordered based on the photos from the Andertons website, but I didn't. It didn't bother me enough at the time to send it back though. I think the colour is just inconsistent and it's a bit of a lottery which you'll get, to be honest. Also, the back of the body and neck on my ESP are black whereas yours appears to be purple.

    • @ToroKchannel

      I think the pickups in the LTD will be better for this kind of heavy stuff, but as far as the playability goes, it will be a draw. The benton might have a little advantage if you intend on shredding cos it doesn't have a neck heel. 2 very good guitars anyway !

    Hmm isn't the guitar bit too bassy or is it settings? Even bridge pickup sounds quite bassy to me. I want something for 80's classical metal like Metal Church, Armored saint, Crimson glory. I thought of LTD M-200 but I don't want another guitar with FR and this one looks fine but the bassy tones are so annoying.

    • @ToroKchannel
      @ToroKchannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it sounds bassy, the setup is stock (same height on the low E and high E side). Now, on the M-200 or MH-200, you've got the same pickups but with no metal cap and that will make them sound way brighter and closer to what you're looking for. Now if you wanna go 80's, I think you should go for a set of Seymour Duncan Distorsion (SH-6) pickups, at least for the bridge pup :)

    • @rigsby556

      Don't worry, I've been a noob too :) I think installing a whammy bar on a hardtail guitar is never a good idea. A good whammy bar is expensive, installing it is out of reach for most people so you will have to go to a luthier and if you want to sell it in a couple of years, it will be very hard to find a buyer. If you want this kind of guitar with a Floyd Rose, you should try and find an LTD EC-1000 FR on the used market. A Kramer Assault Plus FR can also be a good deal if you want a single cut with FR.
