Love your videos. You’re my favourite youtuber honestly. My fragrant cloud is about to bloom in my first year rose garden. I’m excited! How would you describe the type of fragrance it has? Also does it burn in the sun for you? And what’s the vase life like for you?
Thanks for the kind words, made my day! There is a very distinct spicy clove element to FC’s old rose scent, and it has great depth and power. I would say burn resistant is relatively very good, but eventually all roses burn if it gets too hot. Vase life is also very good, maybe 5-6 days.
This variety is my all-time favourite. The rich red blooms are exquisite as they open and the intense fragrance is simply intoxicating. Unfortunately it turns a dull mauve as it fades, so I deadhead earlier than I would others. Also it can be prone to blackspot towards the end of the season. But it is such a divine rose these shortcomings are readily overlooked.
Shell pink is Elle, which I have a separate video for. Apricot is Just Joey, also a terrific variety but I videoed it with ongoing sirens and barking dogs, so unwatchable, lol.
This is the best version of FC I have seen anywhere. I tried growing grafted versions and they all failed to grow taller than 2 ft and reduced to single cane. Now I have ownroot one and that is showing some potential but still just 2 years old bur single cane. Is yours own root or grafted ? Any tips you have to get FC growing ?
I think much of the Fragrant Cloud budwood has declined an many sellers are putting out poor specimens of Fragrant Cloud, I’ve had a few myself. Mine is budded on Fortuniana from K&M Nurseries, I would recommend them if you live in zone 7B or warmer.
Cut roses crave food and fresh water. Immediately after cutting, immerse them right up to their necks in warm water for up to 24 hours (even one hour will help!). Prior to arranging in your vase, add a liquid plant feed to the water. Remove all foliage and thorns that will be below the water level. Finally trim the stems by 2cm at a 45 degree angle under running water.. Change the water every two days to help them last for a week or more.
🙏❤️🦚🦚🦚🎸📿🕊️🌿Thank you so much for sharing this Fragrant Cloud information . It was my late father’s favourite rose!
Your father had great taste!
Just bought this rose at Home Depot, it's going to need some TLC, thank you for letting me view it. Cheers!
Best wishes, Fragrant Cloud is one of my very favorites

I agree, super fragrant and outstanding garden performance
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Gorgeous! What is the name of the shell pink variety (far left) and apricot variety (far right) in 1:29?

I will always remember you FC in your Plano garden.. it was so tall and statuesque. I just don’t like the coloring nor blackspot prone since Texas
Fragrant Cloud is probably my best performer over the years, but yes, it requires spray in TX

@@GardenGlimpses-NorCal Thank you. But Fortuniana won' work for my region. I will try multi-flora if I could get one.
Told me some long lasting variety name ??
I am not sure the question, the variety is named Fragrant Cloud
How long does it hold flower? and then scatter.
It has good lasting quality maybe 5 days in a vase. Plant blooms and repeats very well

My experience one to 2 days maximum. It doesn't hold long at all. Rio samba holds for easily 4 or 5 days
