Do the larger bass drums feel like a large floor tom or bass drum or are they tighter? I’m curious if you can do rolls on them or if it is all single stroke.

It’s very hard to do rolls as you basically only use your hand since you can’t use rebound from the drum and rely heavily on the wrist which is painful sometimes

They lack rebound in a similar way to a floor tom. But with the front heavy mallets it ends up feeling very different.
Most groups you watch the bottom bass player will not achieve a very good roll quality during these types of exercises, it takes a lot of maturity to compensate for the drum’s lack of rebound.
But the heavier mallet does allow you to better utilize the rebound the drum does provide. It is just more difficult to control that than it is on say a snare drum.

from experience on bass 4/5 you need to really use good techniques and use all your muscle groups n even fingers I had never to much issues my self but that could of been to how I tuned are bassline

The intervals between bass 3 and 4 kinda dissapear after the first tuning. Personally Id like some more separation there because to me it sounds like bass 4 is just bass 3 with a bigger shell. I dont think bass 5 needed to be brought up either, though I understand it makes the diddles harder lol.
