Hello Mr.Carey...I'm an old artist at 60 yrs.of age and never thought about selling my work. Your insight has really open my eyes to communicating to people outside my own circle. I will take to heart your advice and encouragement and see where it leads.
I appreciate your simple yet essential input in regards to the life and path to become an artist. I live in Chile, and I agree with all your tips and advises. Many times they sound very logical, but we tend to get blinded by our work and forget to become voices and ideas gor others to grasp
Thank you so much for the informative talk. I am a retired teacher, who has been painting in acrylics for a few years and has been exhibiting or asked to exhibit in my local region, this is such a wise thing to do, self promotion...and the question How am I relevant, very powerful..
wonderful post, helping artists put their creativity - that is most of the time an internal need - in to context with the world... and that what an artist desires, be connected with the world :)
Thanks Brainard', soo informative, appreciate it a lot. I m getting your books. I m listening to all your you tube videos, very interesting , I learned a lot .
An individual that steps into the art arena as an artist enters the world of existentialism. Most art works and the people that create them are destined for obscurity - 99% of all art work vanishes. An artist works despite these odds for the cathartic experience creating masterpieces. More than sales & money, the ultimate prize for an artist is that their work goes into the history books - a slippery slope upwards to say the least. The silver lining may lie with internet technology, social media and the cyberspace cloud that contains the work of the world and can be viewed by multitudes across the planet. I predict that many of the artists working today that go unrecognized and eventually fall into the abyss of obscurity will get resurrected (if only thru NFT's) by future gallery/curators/collectors especially when there is no longer an artist or inheritors waiting in line for payment.
dear brainard - good ideas - keep going - love your approach - by the way you talk about the artist Christophe - would you mid putting a link to his work
Sorry i confused ..i was talking about the book "the value of art" but it's not yours..i know you have the book " making it in the art world"..this one is not translated?
