Realmente me puso la piel de gallina e impactó de una forma que no se puede expresar en palabras. Hi Marita. I am pleased you to Diana - like Dimash, she is the gift that keeps on giving. She was not long 18 when she performed this. Try "Wicked Game from" from when she was 15 and Rechenka (at 14) - an old Russian traditional folk song or lament of an orphan bride. Her performance of this song is nothing short of shamanistic and many have said so. I have often wondered if her deep and dark tones come form the early years of her life when she was horrifically abused by her birth mother and left in a bus stop on cold Russian streets at 3 1/2 years old, with a broken collarbone. She went to an orphanage where she was still in trauma and could not speak well at 5. She was adopted by an Angel who devoted herself to enabling Diana to be all she could be. An inspiring example of triumph over extreme adversity. How ironic that her life starts being treated cruelly by the one who should love you most and now being loved by millions all over the world from all cultures. She has a heart bigger than Russia itself.

Diana was born in May 2003 in the Far East of Russia. (Height: 1,70 m/ 5,7”)She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had many pregnancies, only Diana survived... and she did not love her child, cruelly abused it and tried to drown it. The 3 year old child was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage. There she finally found love ... from Irina Ponik, a massage therapist. Taking a young child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, daughter Nastya 17 years... Now start all over again? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. The doctor recommended singing lessons and so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Her mother, Irina Ponik, turned her whole life inside out and started all over with a new motherhood and many new professions - seamstress, manager, vblogger… admirable. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. It is admirable how she promotes her daughter's career, teaching her how to fly but makes sure that she is down to earth Remains.

Diana entered another competition in 2018 and 2019 and won twice. This project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition: 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children.
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to TH-cam and soon she had millions of fans.
The project producers help the finalists start their studies and encourage their creativity. Diana won a scholarship.
Igor Krutoy, as a juror, gave her a small apartment (37m²/ 398,26 ft²) in Moscow with the words: Live and sing! The two are still in contact with each other. There, in the small flat she lives with her mother and grandmother and was able to begin her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy. (She died of Covid-19 in Oct. 2020). Now she is taught by the great Alexandra Pismennaya, who was a student of Prof. Donskoy.
Dimash Qudaibergen is the universe, but Diana is the earth, our home... Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her general range is C3-C7, the main working C3-C6). Diana's voice also sometimes has a polyphonic undertone.
Undertone singing is a singing technique that belongs to the main category of overtone singing. In contrast to overtone singing, these tones are not overtones, i.e. integral multiples of the fundamental, but integral divisors of the fundamental, so-called sub harmonics. Diana also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl.
But she is not only a great singer and storyteller. She lives her songs and touches our hearts and souls. But also she looks beautiful and she is a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. They are 'Friends' to her and they are very supportive of her. Diana is grateful that they helped improve her home studio and also supported her future plans (first album). Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure". I think, she is our “Earth Treasure”.
The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3-E6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically. She plays the piano and ukulele.
2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors as an external student a year earlier as "normal", applied to music colleges and was rejected (examiners suspected she had a voice defect). But she is totally normal and healthy ... and now she is a student at the university, at the legendary Russian State Institute for Theater and Variety Arts (Juilliard similar to GITIS). She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own work soon.
In October 2021 Diana was invited to her first adult contest on Russian television 'The ShowMaskGoOn'. She won!!!
Diana's first album was released in December 2021.

Very good reaction and on point. Yes there is a joyful side to love and a painful,tragic one and Diana defines the limits of pain and tragic anew. I listen to Russian music for a couple of years now and I came to believe, that Russian musicians and those from latin/hispanic descent are very similar in their emotional interpretation of songs. Even in lighthearted songs, both find the atom of tragedy,pain and suffering hidden in there. Who ever would foster the idea of a lament as a weddig some,if not Russians (listen to Rechenka)
You yourself proved me right, by falling right into that empathetic mood, which sets the fantasy free about the meaning of this interpretation.
Don't worry about the language in your beautiful version, if one sings in a very emotional, or in Diana's hypnotic, intense way, one doesn't need a perfect language, good music and good singers reach deeper than the language region of the brain.
