@@gavin8489 Actually I have material ready for whole album (7 songs), I have recorded bass and guitars, still have to work on vocals and drums for the rest. It's hard to say when everything will be ready, but I plan on releasing every song as soon as the song is ready, and then release it as album. I guess that in current pace, beggining of 2025 for whole album is possible

Never thought about it that way, but you have a fair point since intervals between notes are actually the same

Is this a solo project? If so it's very astonishing. As a solo musician myself, I admire the level of creativity and uncompromising execution of art without having to discard one's own vision because it doesn't have to be adjusted to other minds (band members).
My personal suggestion for improvement concerns the vocal delivery; the vocals should be layered, with a variation between high mid and low screams and a bit more distortion, delay and reverb would help in bringing them up to properly match the instruments.
Akhlys is a good reference for vocals to have in mind here as being the peak of modern BM imo. While not necessarily a goal to be achieved, it is an inspiration to strive towards. I'm not suggesting to mimic it (which would also be impossible) but to get inspired by it's variation, structure and mix.
If you think it's fine how it is, leave it. These are just my 2 cents on it.

      Hi, thank you very much.
Answering the question, yes, it is solo project from beginning to the end. It is not this common by the way to obtain a constructive criticism like that. Since the beginning of my project I was aware of that my vocal probably would be the weakest link of my songs (and because of this I was not sure if I should stick to instrumentals, or to take my shot at vocals), so I had to pretty much navigate around this, but figured that it would be better to just experiment freely with what I have and I ended with something maybe not great, but listenable (but for sure I would like to address dynamics, complexity and range of my future vocals, as well as how overall mix of whole song sounds).
Still a lot of things I could improve for sure, but thanks again for pointing what I should be improving first.

@@HysserayYou're welcome indeed. I value these rare discussions as much as you.
Which DAW are you using? If it's FL Studio, it isn't that complicated at all to make something truly horrifying out of vocals. As another suggestion, you can also look into panning the audio of the vocals. I use, for example, multiple vocal takes and send one 100% left, 50% left, 30%left and so on until it goes all the way to 100% to the right. That way, you can create a very wide soundscape. Also, when you want to experiment with delay, look into the "ping pong" effect as it sends multiple dynamic sounds to the left and right. That creates a complex swirling effect that's quite frightening and immersive when done right. As far as distortion is concerned, I use a three-fold combination of Fruityfastdist, FruityBloodoverdrive and top it off with Combustor. As it's Black Metal, the vocals need to be heavily distorted in order to match the guitars. Maybe this serves you in some shape or form

As for the DAW i'm using Ableton, it always felt more intuitive than anything else. And if im gonna be honest, actually I'm not a huge fan of using distortion on vocals. It for sure have its uses, and can bring uneasy feeling to the song (for example huge fan of Anaal Nathrakh work), but for me it cuts a lot of clarity and ability of understanding lyrics, as well as adding a lot of additional noise in high frequencies which have to be handled one way or another and overall for me it does't feel like being worth it. But the aspect of widening the vocals seems like interesting idea, especially because i wanted to experiment next with panned reverb-only and delay-only tracks. And example of band doing this kind of thing right is Der Weg einer Freiheit (Am Rande der Dunkelheit expecially), these guys are huge inspiration for me, and main reason why i went back to idea of recording music. But with distortion i could probably try to incoprorate it to some degree in some parts of the song, who knows.

@@Hysseray That's a good take. Of course this matter depends on personal preference. When it comes to non distorted vocals I really like what Deathspell Omega is doing. Their approach is that the lyrical content is as important as the instrumental, thus making every word as audible as possible. They are a very philosophical band with a very high amount of intruiging lyrics.
My personal approach is that I use vocals more sparingly but very intensely so when they hit, they hit hard. Because I also don't want to have too much distortion all the time. On the other side, if one is very experienced with EQ and range dynamics, one can handle a lot of distortion while still bringing through the very cristaline and fine frequencies. I write my lyrics more like a multi faceted poem where there is as much said as possible with as few words as possible.
It's always great to exchange viewpoints from artist to artist!
