    How is this unit working for you. I'm shopping for an air compressor and it's pretty much down to one of these Polar units or a Quincy.

    Gonna need a bigger place soon. It's starting to look like your old apartment lol. I wish I had that problem. Thanks for taking time over the years to show us your progress. Hope all is well.

    I wouldn’t put the dryer between the pump and the tank because the air is moving at if fastest there and it’s HOT. The dryer works by chilling the air to condense the liquid so you want it as cool as possible to start and moving slowly.
    If your worried about the water in the main tank? I run a BigCat screw type air compressor and it generates a lot of water and I just let it out daily and the tank is now 10 years old and still in use. Also I would add an oil separator before the dryer

    Yes absilutely, they are not an option but rather a requirement made by many manufactures such as Frunas probably being the best, Square D more common, and Mitsubishi. The contacts inside that pressure switch are simply not intended to transfer the amount of current required by that motor without a magnetic starter. In addition the magnetic starter also provides thermal protection that could be caused by a varirty of factors. You can pick one up on line for about one hundred and change be sure to specify type of power ie. 220 single phase, three phase etc........ good luck........

    Remove current air filter. Put in a 6" or so pipe extension. Run clear flexible tubing with at least one natural loop somewhere easy to get to. Add a common car air filter/air box. (90's Toyota/Prism is about $20 at a junk yard). The natural flex in the tubing will dissipate the air intake pulse and frequency noise Considerably. The Air box has build in baffles for added sound deadening. Now you have a huge air cleaner that can handle way more CFM than most compressors and is quieter and cheaper than almost any factory compressor filter/muffler If you get the above air box there are millions of them out there so the filter is cheap too. Almost any car filter and most motorcycle filters will work. Also if you use the above or some air boxes they snap on connectors so you never have to worry about the wing nut falling in the worst possible place to get at.

      @@SquareBodyK5 My uncle used an air cleaner from a 455 Tornado. He worked in a body shop so he ran the Air filter into the HVAC room. He would just blow out the filter every other month or so. I still get a smile when I think of this HUGE 455 filter on an air compressor.

    That is very nice but where is your magnetic starter? You need one to start and protect that motor.......

    quick question, dont you need a magnetic starter with it? i am about buy an 80gallon 2 stage 5hp single phase, same as yours but made by pal manufacturers (canadian brand from princess auto) isnt magnetic starters used with 3 phase motors only i see that you dont have one installed.

    Hi John: This is more a question than a comment: What color is this unit? Polar has three blues hues: Ford/Polar/Navy. Yours looks great.

    Question I’m
    Looking to buy a 10hr 80gal 2-stage one and it recommends 60a breaker and it has 40a running and 80a start up. I don’t understand electric all i know is my old compressor has 8/2 cable rated at i believe 45a and i have a 50a double pull breaker. I’m a little confused why they reconnect a 60a breaker but they say it’s 80a start us. Can someone tell me if I’m ok with my 8/2 and 50a breaker or so i need to update my line. Any help appreciated.

    I handily solved the noise problem with my compressor. I built a small shed outside and put it there. That way I don't hear the noise, the neighbors do...Actually, I put an automatic timer on the compressor to cut it off at 10PM, since I am basically a humane person.

    Do you think this compressor is as good as a 7.5 hp ? They have the V type pump

  • @twinstaged
    @twinstaged 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The biggest thing that makes noise on a compressor is the air intake. Muffle that noise or move the intake outside and the noise will drop to just the mechanical.

    you guys got awsome deals in the states, here air compressors are freakn expensive at least twice the price in the US i am talking about good ones not made in china junk.

  • @gusbisbal9803

    The truth of it is that it has to do with charge and purge times. If you are purgineg (using compressed air ) for 5 minutes and charging for 30 seconds then that is a completely different situation to charging for 2 minutes and using (purging) for 30 minutes. Size reduces noise because it charges faster, holds more and it doesn't have to make noise as often.
    This is a crucial factor. A half quiet compressor that is charging every minutes is far worst.

    @BuickDoc great idea....I'd do the same. There is no way I could live with the noise coming out that compressor and having it kick in only to scare the shit out of you.. lol...

    The design is 99% the same as the real one. The disc valves might be slightly different but has same performance.

    Have owned a cabinet shop for 30 years and bought an Eaton pump 5 years ago to replace my dead Quincy pump...best compressor pump I've ever owned. Big, strong (powered by 7.5 hp Baldor) but best of all quiet. Tell douche bag Scott M just about all compressors used in the U.S. are now made in China.

      Eaton is not a "cloned Asian" compressor it's a "cloned American" compressor (Saylor Beall)...but once the patent has expired, I have no problem buying offshore equipment. It's called competition, and it is what made America great. When an American company can produce an Eaton pump at the Chinese price I'll buy American. Let the competition begin!

    This is a Chinese knock off of an american made Saylor Beall air compressor, this particular pump retails for about $350, furthermore you should not be giving people advice on air compressors because you clearly know nothing about them... This compressor does need a mag-starter so good luck on your motor "warranty" when it goes out....

    • @johnversluis3084
      @johnversluis3084 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eaton Gives all the compressors a 5 year warranty on there units parts no labor !! and the motor on that unit does draw 21-23amps with out a mag switch needed

    • @jabberwocky9408
      @jabberwocky9408 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A design for failure with a warranty is still a design for failure.
      How much does it cost to be down when you need the compressor most? While you're waiting on that motor? While you're removing it and replacing it yourself? Don't you have things you should be doing during that time? Downtime prevention starts with a solid design, and that compressor does not fit the bill.

      I would agree with you that is why I have mag switch with my Baldor L1410Tand Siemens Switch with Eaton Pressure switch
