Actually, a series reviewing things like frying pans and brooms from the perspective of their use as improvised weapons sounds like it'd make for some interesting vids.

Yeah, maybe they're out there, but even a comparison of how effective are MODERN (teflon-coated type) frying pans are at blocking various attack types (bullet, blade, mace ... ) vs. the classic cast iron frying pan. I can kind of guess, especially on the bullet front, but a hammer or mace ...?

Fever rambles have proven to always be entertaining, in my personal life I mean. Works here too
The shotgun mike gives wider frequency response, but more white noise. The lav seems to be "deader", but doesn't have the background noise. I suspect those playing the audio through a decent sound system will prefer the shotgun, but just about everybody else (especially those using their phones) will prefer the lavaliere.
Siesta Time I'm on my phone and the shotgun definitely sounded better to me.

i actually heard white noise, like a buzzing sound, with the chest mic but the shotgun mike sounded clearer with less background noise.
the preamp has to work harder since the shotgun mic has a larger membrane and is further from his mouth (i.e. the sound) hence the noisefloor.
May also be self noise from cam if the Zoom is directly input to it since cameras have notoriously bad levels.

To sharpen our pencils would mean we would have to have something sharp to sharpen them. Sharp things are not allowed. The pencils are blunt.
Pencils are just far too dangerous. Everyone uses special designed Safety Pens(tm).

Many other large youtube creators bridge the algorithm gap by developing merchandise, literature, and using patreon- which I think you already do. Good luck. You should check out some of the counter strike knives in real life. There is a website that producses them. You could comment on their functionally and so on, would be a good video I reckon - they're also quite cheap I believe.

Judging by the excellent similes in the first minute or so, there are some definite benefits in making videos while sick!
I prefer the shotgun mic. The clip tends to boom a bit in the lower ranges which is not all that pleasant. The shotgun on the other hand sounds much more natural.

The shotgun mic definitely has a much more full sound, the lav is very muffled in comparison and makes my studio headphones sound more like a phone speaker. If you're concerned about the white noise you could use a denoise filter and/or noise gate the bits where you aren't speaking to clean it up.
That bushcraft knife was quite nice, I'll consider buying it!
My favorite knife aesthetically is the 2nd one, but for practical and survival use the 3rd one.

Hi Skall, If hiss and noise are a issue i recommend getting a copy of Izotope Rx Elements I think its like 40 dollars right now but it often goes on sale from 75 to 29 dollar usd. it has a vocal De noise effect that gets rid of hiss like magic.

The D-165 is the best of the 3 in my opinion, as for the mics
Both seem to be working smoothly in tandem, at least on my mobile end.

The dagger style nice designed only for stabbing that you showed I realize there is survival use for it you take some para cord and you attach it to a spear and you use it for hunting fish

I think that if you took the handle scales off of that dagger you could probably make a pretty good spear head from it. Just get a decently thick pole, cut a slot in it and hammer the knife in and then add some screws to make sure that it stays in.

Skall, seriously, take some rest! When you feel ill, it's best to get well asap! Forcing yourself to continue working will only lengthen the duration of it! I mean, if you really need these video's, because you need money (understandable of course) I get it, but to maintain that schedule of a vid every single day can be harsh. I think I can speak for all of your subs when I say: Take a short break if you need to, for your own health, safety and recovery

I've been a long time distant subscriber.... I don't how how I feel about this, but I found this really entertaining.
K-10 is a way to say its not G-10 but something cheaper most likely so it can sound cool. The last one looks like a Bear Grills Gerber knockoff sheath and knife with some bells & wishtles missing, but not a bad fixed blade.

If you like the shotgun mic and you want to remove the white noise, then audacity has a remove noise option, you just need to make a profile for the white noise, which is total silence and it making the noise, then apply it to the whole audio. It will remove some frequencies, but overall it will sound good, imo.
I did that already. This is the sound *with* noise removal, so you can imagine how the original audio quality was.

Is D2 actually a good steel choice for a survival knife? Though it has great edge retention I think it is a bit too hard compared to other steels. That hardness make it much harder to sharpen and makes it more likely to chip and snap compared to softer steels.For a last resort survival knife, I'd prefer to sacrifice a little edge retention for a more durable and easier to sharpen blade.
Nice, the first and last ones look great, and the lav mic sounds excellent, much better than the shotgun. Now for godsakes man, get some rest and soup.

Got to say about second knife, its not so tactical but... for outdoors, you can see the holes for using with wire or some to attach to stick and then u got a spear! Just for little notice 😉
