I love almost everything about this. The custom sprites are well done, the level design looks challenging but not unfair, and the soundtrack is a masterpiece. Yet one thing about this hack that _really_ bothers me is that they included Rokko-chan, yet not only is she not playable (unless the player simply never chose to, but I never saw a character select option or anything), but she also never does anything significant or gets much plot-relevance at all. I like her a lot, so it bothers me that they included her but didn't truly USE her. She was just... there.
Well, she explained things in the opening.
She is like that box you hit on Yoshi's house in vanilla.

My only complaint & suggestion here is that for these hacks that feature extensive changes in Music that you have some kind of mechanism for people who would like to further explore what the Author has done: Like either (1) Take an AFK Music break with an annotation for people who want to skip ahead to where we're given the option to take in a greater portion & sample of their Music choices (like on the Overworld Map). Or, (2), possibly link their Musical choices & OST in the description ? (like as a separate video &/or playlist). Or (3) or maybe even just a list of what tracks that they've chosen for the hack ? ...But of course, I could be completely wrong here... Since you've linked the hack & we can just go lookup its README for ourselves ? lol

Looks like a fun game. For me, the music doesn't seem to match the Mario theme. The level music clashes with the music you hear when you cross the finish line. Granted, I only watched the first 2 levels. I'll have to give this one a try.
