Kathy gets all the hype for the hobbling scene in Misery, but for me this is the best Kathy Bates movie moment of all time.

I agree. I love misery as much as the next person, but I feel like Misery often gets more attention and appreciation in a way that overshadows performances like this one

This scene should be legendary: it started off so heartbreaking and yet it somehow managed to end on perhaps one of the most hilarious scene-enders of all time. ROFL XD

Fun fact! The nurse is played by Broadway star Latanya Richardson Jackson!! Samuel L Jackson’s Wife!

Fun Fact: When she and Sam moved from New York to L.A, it was not because of Sam's career but hers. She had landed a role on a short-lived sitcom created by Chuck Lorre. With Sam's career slowly taking off by that time, they just decided to stay west.

this scene made me tear up when i seen it the first time. kathy bates played the whole movie great and awesome. this was the best scene. i'm sure we all thought of a loved one passing away in a nursing home and this being the end of that life with the cna pulling the rose pictures off the wall and our reactions. the whole movie pulled everyone in to feel the situations. we've all known folks like the characters in this movie, especially those of us from small towns in the US deep south.

I'm not making excuses for her, because there *is* no excuse for treating people like that. But nursing home staff members are so overworked and under paid that often get burned out. Most of aren't innately uncaring or they would have chosen another profession.

This tear jerking scene did NOT happen in the book. In the book Mrs. Threadgoode DOES die. Evelyn is on a vacation with some other women when she gets word that
Mrs. Threadgoode.passed away. She later goes to visit Mrs. Threadgoode's grave and sees where the cafe used to be and the old Threadgoode house. What happened
in the novel was much more meaningful and sad than what happens in the movie. The movie was unfaithful to the book in a lot of ways.
