Awesome video Man. Love your stuff. I ran into you down there a week or two ago. Finally starting picking up some steelhead from shore the last two days!
Nice one man - looked like a buck Steelhead to me 👍 guys down there hate catching Lakers ? i would love come down there and get into a few big ones but then again i dont mind catching big Sheephead either 😎
Thanks Bill, believe it or not some people don't like them because the Lakers like to stay down and dig, while the steelies put up a "better fight", I actually like catching Lakers more because they always give me a run for my money hahaha... you should definitely try to get down there and get some!!
I was to the right of you guys bottom bouncing in the blue hoodie. Saw you catch that steelhead. Good for you man, I've been down there almost everyday tryin to hookup with a Steelie lol
I remember seeing you! Same here man, in my last two trips down there must have hooked into 15lakers and only 1 steeie, couple more weeks and we should be able to get some more steel, tight lines Jeff🎣😎
Lakers outnumber Steelhead about 20:1 this time of year in the Lower. I was down there I believe on the same day w/my oldest son, we hooked 4 lakers and a steelhead during the afternoon hours. We had a float rig and an inline spinner...the inline spinner produced the most hook-ups that day. I give you guys credit using the slip floats...I've always preferred fixed but when you have to get them down 10 ft+ they become impractical.
Sounds like you guys had a good time out there, and yea there are a ridiculous amount of Lakers... probably because they are the only native trout species!! I do like fixed floats too, but for the river I think slip float is definitely the way to go, I've only tried fixed floats down there a couple of times and like you mentioned it was very difficult to cast 10ft+👍🎣😎
Man that looked like a blast I liked the double bead set up I run that same thing with my fly rod just not beads I'll run a nymph or egg pattern instead. It has been awhile since I have fished the lower definitely need to make a trip down there again.
Definitely give it a go, action has been hot recently! I have a couple egg pattern flies that I tied up, but I never really use them, I would assume they work just as good as beads👍👍
Thanks Nick! Sounds like a lucky kid you got there hahaha, down below is a link to there rod which is a Bloodrun Skein Cane, and my reel is a 5.65 Shadow Drifter which I custom ordered from Colville Outfitters👍👍 bloodrunfishing.com/products/big-water-collection-hd-skein-cane-centerpin-spinning-float-fishing-rod-10-20lb
Just curious, why did you say you don't know why anyone would want to keep a laker? I'd keep one if they were in season. Is there something I'm missing?
Well from what I heard from others apparently they taste like dirt... Also I do know that they are fatty fish so they are more likely to hold PCBs than other fish like steelhead. But I can't say for sure how they taste cuz I never tried on lol👍👍
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo thank you was there the other day just up toward The Queenston more could not get a fish on the pin but at 4:40 started throwing A vibe Rex number 6 chartreuse and nailed one thanks again
You said you were using a 14 foot leader doesn’t look like it all the fish that you catch and if you are using a 14 footer, it must be really tough the cast & land fish
Hahaha, I remember seeing you guys fish the Canadian side... Did you guys see those dudes on the shore by you, I was thinking to myself that they had to climb down the mountain to get there!
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo lol that was us bro. My friend wanted to get off the boat and record from the shoreline so we all kinda just figured to give the shoreline a try see if it worked any better. Soon I'll get my NY license and make it over cuz I hear the American side is alot better and the current is alot better not so strong.
Hahaha thats funny lol, I never fished the US side from a boat, but I always see the boat guys catching fish and everyone from shore is catching fish so I would assume it's better than the CAD side... Do u guys catch a lot of fish on that side?
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo I would assume the American side is alot better then our side. There's always tons of shoreline fisherman there. On your videos I can see the current is alooooot better then the spots I usually go to. I'm pretty new to trout and salmon fishing I've only started this year so it could just be that I suck lmao. So far I caught 2 lake trout from my spot had 5 bites in total wasn't able to bring in the other 3. I'll be trying this Saturday same spot and I'll be giving ur rig a shot to see if it's effective (probably will be)
PSA: Lake trout season opens December 1st, so if you accidentally catch one make sure to release it quickly and to handle it with care!!
Yes sir..
I let them all go
It's the Dec 1st now. How do Lakers taste. I've had smaller ones out of reservoirs, they tasted like crap.
@@jeffknowles3952 I haven't tried one yet, but I've heard many people say taste bad!

Wow, I was tapping my screen when 💥 up you popped. Excellent timing, brew just made, let's get watching 👀 👍🤗
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo I sure did. RATHER stunning fish

@12:15 i was waiting for the Barber to go down it never did and Noah catches a fish that's crazy
Yea dude, subtle bites all day long, but the steelhead took the bobber straight down!!
Great video!! Always wanted to fish the Niagra!! Were you using a slip float?
Thanks Michael, definitely go give it a shot!! And yea it was a 1oz aero float👍
Nice video..nice greasy lakers they are a good fight 🤟lots of fun on the pin.
They sure do, thx for the comment Justin!!💪😎💯
Bro, what fishing knot are you using here, and in general for all other setups. It seems very strong for these big fish .Ty
The clinch knot is the only one I use!!

Wtg guys awesome video tight line's always
Thanks Steve, tight lines man!🎣😎
I've been trying to hard for a steelie in the lower river. I've gotten a few browns and lakers before a single steelhead. You guys give me hope lol
Hahaha, once the Lakers move out in a couple weeks you should be able to catch the steelies more easily!! 🎣

How many feet are you fishing below your float well fishing
14ft 👍

Hog....hog..
what happened to all the snow?
Niagara county just got a dusting compared to Buffalo and the south towns 👍👍
The trout here in Owen sound are few and far between
I miss the Niagara river

Yeah bites have been weird for me as well. Some slam it some just tap it. Fyi met ya at the spillway saturday on top
They were biting quite odd this day... Ahhh I remember, how did you guys end up doing?
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo went 2/3 on steelhead and a couple lakers
Good stuff dude, keep it up!🎣
Fresh steelheads are the ones to fight older ones kinda just crocodile roll on ya.
True that, those chromers put up insane fights!!🎣😎
Are you using a bead and a bag?
I was using a double bead rig in this video, but I did get a couple on a bead bag combo a couple days after this trip👍👍
Do those steps you show have a name? hope Im not over stepping.
Sorry can't say over the internet 👍
