    It's one thing to be an introvert but it's another thing to be an empath. I am both and see both in you. I *strongly*, STRONGLY encourage you to look up what exactly is an empath and to watch videos on TH-cam about how to function best as an empath. Had I known I was an empath in my 20s, much of how I lived live would've been markedly different.

I am from the Philippines and currently working in Thailand. I hope you don't mind me asking. Is it possible to travel and tour to Morocco? What can you suggest for me to do so I can start my plan the earliest possible time. Please educate me about this. Thank you and I will waiting for your response . Thanks a lot! Hello Mr. Jessie Eubank! I am excited about your trip. Yes if you are going to Morocco for a limited time, I highly recommend you do a tour. I am not familiar with any in particular but have friends that have done bus tours and loved it. You can google some tours that will fit your liking. I lived in Casablanca but found that for a more authentic, less busy vibe, Tangier, Marrakech, and Fez were great options. But there are so many other cities that are great too! Hope that helps.

    I hate it when Westerners use the word "expat" to refer to themselves. If anyone even wishes to step foot in their country, they're an "immigrant" and not an expat. Yes, of course dehumanize the rest and give yourselves fancy titles if that makes you feel better..
    This isn't a personal dig at the girl who's uploaded this video by the way. You're neither an expat nor an immigrant - you're an African American so you're always welcome back to the continent of your ancestors. 😉

    • @TheJazzyNation1
      @TheJazzyNation1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Your comment has probably been my favorite thing to read in a long time because it made me think. The first time I read your comment, I went straight to researching this very issue. I never thought about the dynamic power of words in the context of traveling, living, and working abroad. There is so much privilege packed into the word expat and so much more negativity associated with the term immigrant, especially from a western perspective. There is a lot to talk about regarding this issue and I’d like to hear more about your thoughts and feelings surrounding this topic. Let me know if you’d like to see a video about this topic too. Thanks for your comment.

    • @AdamAlq
      @AdamAlq 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@TheJazzyNation1 Thanks for your response.
      I'm part North African but was born and raised in the United Kingdom. I've been privileged to have had the opportunity to live and work in various places around the globe. Throughout my time abroad, I’d noticed one thing; the Western migrants would refer to themselves as “expats” and that’s fine, but growing up in an incredibly hostile and racist part of London in the 90’s (where I was actually attacked during my teens and consequently in a coma for 7 days because of my skin colour) hearing this term, made me think a great deal.
      As you have stated, there is indeed a lot of privilege packed with the term expat as opposed to the term immigrant. The funny thing is that most people that I grew up with were from East African and South Asian backgrounds who's families came as economic migrants to the UK and would be referred to as such. Everyone from the UK that I’d met that were residing in Qatar, UAE and Singapore were earning good money and living a very high standard of life and were clearly economic migrants yet they refused to be referred to as such. There are clear double standards here that I feel the masses overlook and I also can't help but feel there’s an arrogant post colonial mindset in many too that will not disappear overnight unfortunately.

      An expat for me is someone who got sent to a new place by his/her firm in order to fulfill a management or other senior role (for example I got sent by my firm for a couple of months to Shanghai, China). An immigrant is someone who seeks fortune in the new country, basically comming with nothing (for example my parents, who migrated from Italy to Germany). Expats just want to stay a couple of years at that place, immigrants want to stay very long term/forever.

    I hate the term expat. It stinks of colonialism. You're an American Immigrant. It's almost like saying, I'm amongst you but I'm not one of you.

      Usually, an expat is someone who lives in another country usually for work or a change of pace for a period of time. An immigrant also leaves their native country but with the intent to permanently move and stay in a new country. I am NOT an immigrant. I do not plan to stay in India for more than another year or so. My husband's job requires him to travel but we are STILL American citizens. The notion that I am amongst you but I'm not one of you is true. I cannot claim the culture or experiences of the people from the places I've visited. I would not try to. I am not trying to assimilate. However, I am always will to learn and experience all I can from the people I meet and the places I temporarily live. I am grateful for the chances I get to visit and live in other countries and I will never forget the kindness a country has had to allow my husband and I to live and work.
