Bro, this was so dang helpful. I only use mine once maybe twice a year so i forget how to stow it for transport or storage and this video was awesome. Thanks!
Just purchased my first Summit Viper yesterday and was putting it together today. I did a search on how to nest them together for transport and this video popped up. Very well explained and my climber is super snug. Thanks for the excellent video!
Hey Adam, thanks for the kind words! You are going to love your Summit stand! I’ve got tons of Summit content on my channel. Please hook me up and hit subscribe, if you can. Best of luck this season 👍🏻
How would carry that and a backpack at the same time? I could only imagine pack either strapped to it and carry em both on your back or one in front and the other on your back?
I’ve had a viper for years and gave up on nesting… been carrying the top section by hand b/c I couldn’t get them from sliding. Going to try this after work tomorrow. Thanks for posting this.
I bought a Molly frame pack and zip tied it with extra large zip tie, cables, where your shoulder straps go. It has a cumber bun and shoulder straps extremely comfortable.
Thanks for the video man. I am a new hunter this year and bought my self a used summit viper and omg just learned everything I needed to learn from your video
Hey Troy! Thanks so much for the feedback and for checking out my channel! You will love your Viper👍🏻. I have tons of Summit content if you want to check out any more. Best of luck this season!
Just got a Summit Goliath, and with such a big stand it’s hard to stay quiet walking through the woods. I tried this and walked right up on a doe. 100/10 this is the stealthiest way to carry a climber through the woods.
I’ve been carrying this wrong for years. Not nesting them. The only drawback I see with the way you have it on your back is the prongs that grab the tree will catch the backs of your legs. That’s why I turned mine upside down. Good video.
Hey John, thanks for the positive feedback! I always push the cables in as far as possible for that purpose. Carrying upside down is a pretty cool thought as well 👍🏻
Summit Treestands are very frustrating to pack up and carry on your back. It’s a shame they are so comfortable in the tree otherwise I would give up on the brand all together.
They are ultra comfortable. Once I figured out the best way to strap the seat down, the nesting process got a lot simpler. Thanks for the feedback and best of luck this season 👍🏻
Hey The_Hybred, thanks for checking out my channel and for the kind words. Hook me up and hit subscribe, if you could. I’ve got a good deal of climbing treestand content.
Hey Joee, thanks for the positive feedback! You’re gonna love your Summit Stand! I’ve got a ton of Summit content on my channel if you are interested. Best of luck this season 👍🏻
The part of the harness you leave hanging from the seat work well to keep the seat and the platform from separating. In fact, if I remember correctly that is detailed in the Summit "how to" video.
Thanks for the instruction video. To tell you the truth I did not use my viper this season because I could not find any instructions on how to nest the stand. Now I can get excited about next season. Thanks again.
how do you carry an back pack and your treestand? i sweat a lot going into the woods and always carry extra clothes instead of wearing them. not sure how to attach a back pack to this. great video btw
Hey Yul! Thanks for checking out my channel and for the kind words! I usually put this on over my backpack and I’m good to go. You may have to loosen the backpack straps on the stand. Best of luck this season 👍🏻
@@mountainbuckif you ran your top section of the seat straight up and still had the bottom part of seat folded up like you do then went over the top rails with your bungee and connected it to the platform you wouldn’t be losing all that carrying capacity on your platform…just take your cam strap run it from top of rail down between the teeth and connect it then rest your backpack on the bottom of platform resting against the v …I’ve ran mine like this for over 20 years and I’ve yet to find a better way….this way you even got room for bibs , jacket and even a set of waders resting above your backpack …also a longer cam strap makes it easier to connect if you plan to carry all 4 items
Forget those gator straps. Forget the tether. Get a set of Third Hand Archery Stabilizer Straps. Install them correctly and tighten them down and you won’t be able to budge your stand when done properly. Plus they act as a double tether when climbing and descending.
I just took mine out to the woods today. I sure wish I would've watched this first! 😆 Do you have a video taking it off the tree QUIETLY? I think I blew out the deer with my method. Lol 🤦
Hey Reneé, thanks for checking out my channel! Haha I hear you. I don’t have a video of that yet, but maybe I should make one! Best of luck this season 👍🏻
That’s nice and all. But where do you put your backpack? Or are you supposed to go hunting with no supplies and JUST a rifle and knife? Please don’t take this the wrong way. This guy explains stuff amazingly and I’m not disputing that whatsoever. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I’m buying a new pack for this winter so if someone can say hey man this pack is perfect for a viper sd. Buy it. Please.
@@mountainbuck thanks man I can’t wait to see it. Im grateful knowledgeable people such as yourself have a platform like this to reach knuckleheads like myself haha. Stay safe brother.
@YoDooDSup put your backpack on the out side of the stand. You just have to do your padding differently..pull it thru and tie it to the top but first slide your back pack between the frame an that bungee cord that runs horizontal then pull that pad up to support the bottom of the backpack an tie them lil black hooks off at the top
I do exactly as you do for early season. However, when temps start dipping I leave the top of back rest pad to the rear. I then roll up coat or other layering clothes and stuff them between frame and pad and add a bungee horizontally. I do walks sometimes of an hr back to some places and can then carry a smaller/lighter pack in. Absolutely love my summit stands.
Your videos have been extremely informational. I have watched several of your Summit Viper SD videos because I am hunting with one for the first time this weekend. I've noticed in your other video, you bringing along a backpack as well. How do you travel with your tree strand on your back, with a backpack and your crossbow through the woods? Any tips?
Hey M VanHoose, thanks for the kind words and for checking out my channel! I appreciate the support. I typically have my backpack on first and put the stand over it (this adds a little padding between your back and the stand). I carry my crossbow in my hands and usually have it cocked (with safety on) once I get into the woods. You never know, you might walk up on a buck and having that crossbow ready would be clutch. Best of luck this weekend! 👍🏻🦌
I stick my backpack on the outside of the stand.i pull that top of cushion thru and tie it to the top corners and put my bag in between it an the stand and inside the horizontal bungee cord that holds the stand together
@mountainbuck man i need some better backpack straps for mine..but i dont wanna do that xop TTS because you cant use the original seat. Do u have any suggestions?
You cannot rest a Summit Viper steel in this same manner. The cross braces are not wide enough for the lower arms to slide in. Very disappointed in this stand and sadly it was my first purchase. The stand you are demoing is much nicer and looks easier to nest.
I just remembered I did a review on the Viper Steel where I showed how to nest it at the end. Check it out th-cam.com/video/sap-KJIdMUM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bZDwaAyb-aba5v6w
The seat sits too low, you have to carry them upside down, they take a while to set up and take down , the cable system isnt good and the bottom platform is too short and the foot climbing system sucks , the only good thing is they hold on to the tree nice , too bad this is the brand that has monopolized and is everywhere and easy to get
Bought a new summit tree stand and would trade it in a second for the old api grand slam light supreme, had one years ago but sold it due to needing the money and was a big mistake. Wanted to buy a new one but the company was sold and they changed the design and apparently cheaper out on the quality from all the bad reviews I read. Nothing in my opinion needed changing and was a great stand. Way quieter and easier to attach to the tree and packed better. From the reviews a lot of people complained about not having the sound deadening foam inside the rails and mine despite it being on the box doesn’t have any inside either, false advertising if you ask me. Don’t get me wrong it will get you up a tree but for me it doesn’t come close to the old API
Hey D M! Thanks for the insight! I haven’t heard of the grand slam light supreme. It sounds interesting! I’ll often get people that love another brand’s stand comment and say how much they like that other stand and then more often than not, that other manufacturer doesn’t make those stands any longer (sometimes they are ridiculously expensive as well). For me, having a reliable company like Summit that’s going to be around to provide service and support is a major selling point (aside from the quality and comfort of their stands). Just my opinion. Thanks for sharing and best of luck this season! 👍🏻🦌
You should get an award for this demo. Many thanks!
Thanks so much, Ivan! I truly appreciate that! Best of luck this season 👍🏻

If you run that utility strap vertically in the middle around the frame over the seat and between the backpack straps it’s easier and holds better.
